OK, so how did Lee pass the Clone jutsu exam?

I was thinking back at the academy days and how everyone has to go through a certain test to receive their headband. The Clone jutsu is the final test to receiving your headband and becoming a genin, so how did he pass if he can't even use ninjutsu? Is there some secret that I don't know about??

Any thoughts?

Lee scores a 0.5 so he doesn't possess zero ninjutsus and may have still been able to perform a basic one. That or his taijutsu was so high it made up for it. He scores a 5 in that category.
