The illusion will only activate whenever the opponent sees any bit of mercury. Once the illusion is activated, the opponent would to begin to feel the poisonous effect of Mercury. The mercury entering the body would cause irreverisble nervous system and brain damage causing the opponent to be paralyzed, blindness, numbness, and memory loss (this causes the opponent to forget how to perform simple task such as handsigns, jutsu, etc.)
