- easily deflected 5 solid TBB without any fuss ( gai wanted to go eight gate to counter that)
-if you say naruto is using mode's, tsunade also uses chakra focused in her hands

Gai with 8 gates is easily the strongest we've seen thus far. The 8 gates augment his physical strength to be of absurd levels. A kick was strong enough to blow off half of Madara's body (reminder that Madara tanked all the tailed beasts tails at the same time and only lost an arm, and this was before he was a jin) and Madara's durabillity is extremely high. And simply I don't think anyone's physical technique (that we currently know of) other than Gai's kick could have ripped a large chunk of Madara's body off.
