Naruto's trauma was consistent over 12 years though. Imagine everyone hating you for 12 years and you don't know the reason.

He has the same trauma as Gaara, but you could say he reacted much better to it. Also Gaara knew the reason why he was hated.

This. Imagine trying your hardest to be accepted, yet no matter what you do people spit in your face, berate you, and wish you died. No matter where you go or what you do the stares hit you for your entire childhood and you can do nothing.

At least Gaara knew why he was deplored. Naruto was living in the agony of uncertainty and everyone hated him. Naruto's is the worst imo. Gaara at least had his siblings, though they were by no means close, and knew his fate. Naruto just walked the right path after bonding with Iruka, the same Gaara did after fighting Naruto.

Naruto had worst, then Gaara.

I agree with Madara having it worse than Obito. Unlike Madara, Obito didn't have to see his parents die in war as kid, which in a sense is better than born without parents. Obito had crush on a girl that never returned the love back. Madara's love for Izuna was stated to by higher than Itachi's love for Sasuke, and Madara had lost him in cold blood. This is only half of his background.

I don't understand how people put Obito over Madara. Obito still had Kakashi, Minato, and his other friends such as Gai, Asuma, and everyone from the academy. Madara had no one for him.

You really don't understand how much Naruto suffered in his childhood.

While the other people went through tragic losses and grief from losing the people they loved, Naruto's suffering is on a whole other level. From the very beginning of his life, he had nothing, had no one to love him, no one acknowledged him - he was completely alienated. Isolation is a different kind of suffering than loss, because Naruto literally had no one. That's what you get for being a jinchuuriki. The only one who can compare with alienation on that level is perhaps Gaara.

No character really topped Nagato for me.

He literally started at the very bottom born in war and was stripped of every little thing special to him. His parents, his innocence (murderer) his best friend, his village, his dog Chibi and everything else.

4. Kabuto (I can relate to the identity crisis)
5. Kakashi (more tortured life rather than origin)

I agree that he had a choice and i think everyone has a choice no matter what, but he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Killing his family was his last resort to prevent worse things to happen and to protect Sasuke.
Regardeless of being his choice or not, he did suffered like hell and was never something he freely wanted.

Itachi was an adult? He was only 13, a kid as well. His suffering also didn't stop at that point, he would continue to live as a criminal w/o friends or anything to the end of his days, while Sasuke would eventually get his revenge, the opportunity to start a new life and always had Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi.
There's no way Sasuke endured more than Itachi T-T

That's a tough one, but for me I think it's either Obito or Kabuto.



Kabuto had no childhood and was tricked into killing his mother and Obito's life was taken from him after the accident.



At least Sasuke had a somewhat normal childhood after the massacre.

Gaara didn't have a childhood either and was hated by everyone. But at least his life got better.

Nagato's life was pretty inconsistent. Good and bad things happened, but mostly bad.
