[Discussion] 8 Gates are not special at all....

Welll! While Gai was in 7th gate, Madara stated that "You are underestimating me, if you are not going to use the red steam(Which we know means the 8th gate)" So that means that the Madara already knew abt the 8th gate release. Infact much deeply to the fact that he could say those colours(Red steam) exactly... Which could well mean he have fought someone with such gate techniques(maybe even against a 8th gate)

But what followed after Gai started his onslaught was very much not like madara. I mean he was totally clueless to what was going to be gai's next attack. Almost like as if he just knows abt 8th gate from hearsay... No experience fighting it whatsoever... Which seems very unlikely, after he is a warrior... must have fought a gate user in his life somewhere...

Which makes me believe that, the 8th gate in itself is not a powerful technique.. You are just basically opening all the limiters. But the significance lies in the techniues you deloy with the 8th gate and maybe Gai is the only one with such super OP 8th gate techniues....

Dai Must have not been anywhere nearly as powerful as Gai when it comes to 8th gate. Because the level at which GAi is fighting with 8th gate, he could have taken out whole of the mist swordsmen....

What i wanted to say is... Its not abt the number of gates you can open... But its your own merit and skill that defines what you do with the opened gates that matters... So Gai is the absolute pinnacle of Taijustsu, gates are just a tool to him... No one in 8th gate matches Gai...

And madara lives only because he aimed it a little bit low and right....

A Genin with 8th Gates could fight the 7 Swordsman together (they are at least high jonin)

And a Jonin with 8th Gates could fight a God

I would say it's quite strong even when used by a not very strong person

how many people do we know who can even get past 2 gates? 3?

also just because someone can use the 8 gates does not mean that everyone who enters the 8 gates are going to be the exact same.. gai has his own fighting style so even though madara might have had experience with the 8 gates tech doesnt mean a thing..

two different people using the 8 gates could be very different...

techniques used in the 8 gates could differ depending on the user..

When I read the title, I was in disbelief.. "not special"
Only masters of Taijutsu can open them.. Kakashi can't even copy that sh!t!!
Btw we don't even know if Gai's father was even capable of opening the eighth gate! It takes a master beyond the realm of 'master', of Taijutsu to open the eighth gate! So if we ever see another capable of opening a gate, KNOW that sh!t is special as hell!
