[Discussion] Does One Piece needs more character deaths?

Out of the big 3, OP has the least character deaths. I'm not talking about Ace's mom, Robin's parents or Nami's parents. I mean the one who died in war, like Ace and Whitebeard.
Personally, in my opinion, even tho OP has very less character deaths, I'm pretty satisfied with this series, and feel like unnecessary character deaths is pure sadism. And forced deaths are the author's way of saying, "Oh, I can't deliver a good and consistent plot? Let me kill more characters".

I agree with this but he should kill off some villains. I mean, what was the point in having Geko Moria escape? Or letting Captain Kuro live? Ok, I understand some villains shouldn't die like Enel for comedic purposes but still :/

Agreed. It's still my favourite manga without a ton of character deaths, it shows how great an author Oda is.

As stated by those above me, the lack of frequent death's in one piece isn't detrimental to the quality of the series. It's just a style of writing that Oda chooses to do which he does well in. So I'm pretty satisfied with everything up until now in term's of how death plays a role in the series.

If he does choose to do death's more frequently, that would be awesome as long as the death's are really impactful to the story, involve relevant characters and are not bullshitted. Otherwise it doesn't make much of a difference.

Yeah, only 2 characters died in the present storyline. I don't really mind it, except when characters survive unreasonably (read Pell). Then it just seems like Oda is catering for 7-year-olds. Hopefully we'll have none of that in the future. The story is still only a little over halfway, so I'm sure there are certainly gonna be more deaths.

So far its all great with the current amount of dead. N every character tht has not died has had important role to play later on. Like koala, and sabo. Characters most only be killled if they need to be useless dead is unneccesary.

Again with the mkre deaths thread, the out come will b the same pple like post #14 come(even though they said they wont disgust themselves with OP any more) and in the first line of their post sorta sugar coat their insults to the manga so as to say when quoted I didnt just hate on the manga but check a several lines in their post and u see a long list of stuff they say shits on ONE PIECE which in reality is their objective and why they click on that one piece link on the forums page-they r just waiting for the nxt thread they can bore us with their one piece is crap talk and threads like these are exactly what they bleed for and like flies to a................ what ever Im not gonna do this, but just say Shounen does mean Young Boys or something along the line so whateves its K as it is If Iwant to see 14deaths per episode I watch game of thrones and when I feel maybe 25 is what I want today Iwaych Spartacus from Starz.


Oda has quality of deaths and thats that no need to b told how many pirates and marines died at marineford coz we dont care about them only Ace and WB matter.

Well I'm 50/50 on this. I hate the fact that no villain died in the series,in present time,and only 2 important characters have died throughout the series. Ace's death became meaningless thanks to luffy and it was pure BS. When I read op fans saying how great oda writes that it makes you cry even when a boat get destroyed I was so inspired but then came reality crashing that hope. That was one hell of a lie,this is a kids manga with kids logic with no impact at all. Fma,snk,naruto,berserk,breaker,these mangas shit on op in every sense,especially in realism,maturity,plot and sadness factor.

Naruto Shippuden is trash. Deaths are overdone, I rarely gave a f*ck when Neji died. Number of Deaths =/= Quality

lmao get lost Narutard. Ace's death was meaningful and brought progression to Luffy's character.
