The truth of which is consider not the truth is actually the truth. "Life has no meaning" Life is the opposite of Death. Therefore, "Death has no meaning" You ask yourself the number one question, "Why do I live?" You live for a purpose in life. In order to achieve such purpose you need to survive......

Actually, I know of those tests, but I still feel like there is a difference between recognizing the image in a mirror to be the reflection of your own and not just some tv show and not beeing self-aware.
Take a look at my cat for example. Sure, if I paint a dot on her head and show it to her in a mirror, she wont relize she actually has a dot on her head. But if I paint her leg for example, she's gonna see it and try to clean it off - because she does realize that her leg is part of her body. Also, cats show emotions, they do indeed make plans and they most likely dream, too. Rapid eye movement wich is something we humans do uring our dreams can be observed with animals, too. Sometimes animals like cats suddenly awake with an itching movement of almost all their muscles - we humans do the same thing after experiancing a bad dream in wich we fall from great height or get other panicing images that let us wake up.

Sure, there are differences in the mental abilities of other animals and humans, that is after all the biggest feature of our species. But that doesnt mean that we are no animal anymore, it just makes us a smart animal. Ofc, you can define exactly that as beeing the cut between animal and not animal... as I said, it all depends on definition. I myself like to not do that cut at all and see ourselfes as animals, mostly for biological reasons. We difference pant from animal and fungi for physical reasons, not mental ones, why should we change our method for the 'wnb special case' of humans? But that's just me...

now thats a mistake from my part. when i said dream i didnt mean the dream u have during night (pretty much every animal with a brain has those) but i meant dreams like "when i grow up i want to be a pilot" thing. like planning your future, how u want to live your live and chose a path. animals do that by instinct and only adapt to their enviroment, while we have the option to chose the path even if it kills us. thats something no animal would ever do. simply because they lack the intelligence to do so(kinda ironic lol intelligence to commit suicide)
as for emotions yea some animals do have some. i think i never said it wasnt like that. but is it emotion that makes us special? also the amount of emotions animals have differ from that of human beings. see i just said many people define human beings like that. of course biologically speaking we are pretty much the same...
the think with the leg u mentioned is pretty interesting indeed. im not sure but i think since the cat sees its own leg from his very own perspective(and not its mirrored image) it does realise it is part of its body. if it didtn a cat(or any animal for that matter) wouldt be able to use its limps and other body parts at all, would it? but to be aware of your existence and to recognize yourself is a whole other thing.
as far as i know no known ape ever succeded in the video test(kinda like mirror, but with a cam installed from another perspective) no ape has ever asked a question(yes there are apes which learned the sign language which is both terrifying and awesome) why is that? :D

also there was this one goralla, which could watch a tv and realized the feelings of the people within the movie...pretty impressive.

damn i think i kinda drifted away lol

I did. Life is hard to explain. It is difficult to find the truth yet so simple.

That, my friend, is exactly what this thread was made for :p

I fear I got you completely wrong at first, english is not my native language, so you can blame that if you want :p

The problem with self-awareness is, how do you disproove it? Don't you have to be self-aware to be able to realize that something is part of you/your body?
The biggest difference between other animals and humans probably is that humans don't always prioritize instict over their own mind. That would explain suicide, the plan-making of humans and a bunch of other stuff, like why even the smart apes never ask questions (debateable, I'm probably not qualified to talk about that topic that much, for my knowledge on the matter is limited). As for the camera test, I'd say the distortion a mirror creates is very simple, easy to understand while using a camera to create a scene of a room from a completely different angle is much harder to understand. It just shows that the apes that were beeing tested were smart, but not as smart as humans. Just a wild guess though...

Only someone with complete philosophical noobitry thinks that there's a meaning to life. Life is meaningless; we humans just try to make a meaning out of it.

The purpose of "life" is to reproduce itself. The meaning of your own being here is another question...

The meaning of life is to get to know the Creator of the Universe and that is Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. To have a relationship with Him and to do His will for you that He plans out. If you follow Christ you'll be granted eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ one day. That is the meaning of life.

To find meaning, nobody really knows for sure what the meaning of life is. All you have to do is find things that make like meaningful for you.

Me I feel like I found it at an early age. But everyone eventually finds what helps them get up in the morning, something to look forward too.

Unfortunately nobody on this site is going to take you seriously, their minds are petrified with pop culture and anime/manga. They can't think clearly lol
