Because of the countless modifications he has made to his body it is possible. His body is very malleable and can tank many attacks. The Oral Rebirth is not limited to him just resuscitating from his mouth. If I recall correctly, Sasuke used it to escape Amaterasu and his back split open and a new body emerged from it, not his mouth. I can go check up on this to be exact but I'm pretty sure this happened.

The panel is not very clear, but still every time Oro has used the technique its been from the mouth even when his stomach was slit open. Oro cannot survive without his head. He is like a snake and snakes cannot survive with no head.

OT: Orochimaru beats Gai about mid diff wo 8th gate. Gai's techs would be countered by oral rebirth, and Gai can not cause him to overuse it as his 6-7 gated techs can't be use too much.

8th gate is out of question though; by portrayal, hype and feats it smears Orochimaru.

1) They didn't regenerate because Orochimaru didn't want them to. He saw that they were uneffective. Moreover, he was bound to get defeated by Itachi so Kishi prolly didn't want to waste more panel time there Straight from the Databook:

'Out of Sasuke's Cursed Seal came forth Orochimaru, shapeshifted into an eight-headed, eight-tailed white snake, via the White Snake's power of regeneration.'

2) About the second one. Didn't Sasuke utilize Oro's chakra that he absorbed to use Oral Rebirth and other Oro's jutsu? I thought it was that he spent all of his own chakra and also Oro's chakra he absorbed, so that he couldn't supress Cursed Seal anymore.

Orochimaru merges with ground and uses zetus speed and his slither mode to get out of harms way against tht elephant thing lol... Or maybe he can just regurgitate himself although I'm not sure he has enough duribiity to do so then again madara is an uchia and they have no tanking feats but he does have hashi's DNA but then again so does oro and prior to this he already had high duribiity ...
So I think he has better duribiity then current madara (not to mention due to zetus body he is basically immune to physical tiajutus damage example zetus survived getting his neck snapped by Ay when tht would kill anyone..)

Orochimaru is weird af. It doesn't matter how bad he gets harmed, as long as there're parts of him he always comes back (

). Don't forget his real form is made up of multiple snakes as well, to kill him one must kill all the snakes, effectively obliterate his whole body or seal his soul. He already got cut in half and reattached like it was nothing. After he gets put in the same condition as Madara i don't see he can't regurgitate and put himself together.

Are you comparing the likes of lord Orochimaru with the ground? EE breaks bones more than anything else and possibly messes up the insides w/ the pressure. That ain't putting him down.
So far the only attack Gai has shown that can vaporize anyone is NG, but that ain't going to obliterate a whole body, which is absolutely necessary to kill Oro physically.
