Hello.
In this thread I wish to point out some symbolism, and there's a little repeat but there is also new stuff as well.

So in the latest chapter, we saw 2 statues standing behind each Naruto and Sasuke.

In a previous thread, I mentioned how Sasuke resembles the Indra god of lightning.
It is quite evident now that Sasuke is also indra's reincarnation. But he also is like the actual Indra god.
One special similarity between the two:
Indra is the Hindu god of storm and thunder. He wields the almighty thunderbolt Vajra and he was the strongest lightning wielder.

Sasuke is already an excellent lightning user, taming lightning itself!
Kirin!

Kirin was said to be on another level of change in chakra nature by Zetsu. Imagine how powerful it could be should Sasuke use it with coalition of Perfect Susanoo!
This means that Sasuke's lightning could make a re-entrance in a possible final battle versus Naruto.

EDIT:
Kishi indeed showed this again in the cover!
Here was the representation of the God behind Sasuke, look closely to what he is holding.

It is practically the same as Indra's Vajra lightning bolt!

But after a second inspection, I realize that Naruto and Sasuke both resemble something more in regards with these statues.

Recalling, these 2 statues reminded me of the 2 we saw during Itachi's flashback:

But in actuality, for both pictures there are statues of Asuras presents.
In fact, this image of an Asura capitalizes this uncanny resemblance.
Red Asura:

Now recaping, Asuras in buddhism are related with the "Hungry Ghost Realm", meaning they seek power.
But in Hinduism, Asuras are powerful warriors who battle constant with Devas, or the "God Realms."
It is also important to note that some Asuras are one with nature, or become unified with it.

Now look at again at the one on the right, it is wielding 3 important weapons that each represent the conflicting philosophies and unity.
  1. A Ring Staff
  2. A Trident Spear
  3. Another Staff

In his right hand, he wields a Ring staff similar to Juubito's/Hagoromos,or as other's have correlated it with the "Sun."
Now take another glance at the god behind Naruto, well it just so happens this is a symbolization for the Hindu God Agni.

Agni
Agni is considered one of the most supreme gods, together he is apart of the leading Asuras with another named Rudra.
Agni is the God Fire, and his heads can symbolize passion, will, youth, and life.
There are three channels that coincide with Agni's energy.
  • Sun
  • Fire
  • Nature
You must be registered for see images
Naruto is already known for his will of fire.
Naruto also resembles Ashura, who was shown with the Sun.
Naruto is a master of nature as it is one of his powerful assets.

In his left hand, he wields a Trident Spear resembling the Vajra lightning spear held by Rudra.

Rudra
Rudra symbolizes his three fundamental powers:
  • kriya(action)
  • jnana(knowledge)
But Rudra is actually also another god of Storms/Lightning.
The Trident he wields is a powerful Vajra Spear helping him to use Lightning, even tame it.
Rudra is called "the archer" and the arrow is an essential attribute of Rudra.
The trident, or the spear with three prongs, is one of the accessories.

Sasuke also has tamed lightning and is an excellent Lightning style user.

Not only this but he is also an excellent archer, with his "bows" being Enton.

Do these Gods sound like 2 certain someones to you?
Yes, Naruto and Sasuke.
Now here is the thing, Agni and Rudra are partners as part of the Supremes of Asuras:
Just like how Naruto and Sasuke are the new leaders chosen by the Rikudo.

The next thing is that, Agni and Rudra fought together against Devas.
Naruto and Sasuke are about to team up and also fight the "Deva", Madara Uchiha.
(Similar happened against Obito)

Now to summarize Asura statue shown in Itachi:
  • The Right hand with the Ring Staff symbolizes Naruto's philosophy
  • The Ring Staff shows Naruto's side, how strong will and life with cooperation is the key.
  • The Trident spear represents Sasuke's side
  • How he will take action and isn't afraid to kill to get his goal.
  • The base Staff resembles the "bridge" or unity for Naruto and Sasuke to cooperate.
Thanks for Reading, Vega

You connected the symbolism very well. Bravo, as always!

BUT I would've like to have seen you connect the two Ashura statues to Itachi somehow :D but that's just me.

Glad you liked this one as well bro:bouncy:
lol yeah I know what you mean, I actually have a thought for it-
Relation of Itachi:
We know that the statue on the left represents the Unity of Naruto and Sasuke's philosophies:
  • Cooperation/Love
  • Doing what has to be done regardless the ethics
The Statue on the right of the Buddha represents:
  • Perfection/Happiness
  • The Perfect path or Road taken
In terms of how it relates with Itachi, its that it almost signifies each choice has to make regarding the Uchiha Coup:
The Left Statue or choice recognizes the reality that he must do what has to be done so that Cooperation/Love can be preserved for the future generation.

By choosing the Asura Statue/Route and avoiding the Buddha, it shows that Itachi had no choice he could make in regards to the Uchiha Coup that could be perfect or where everyone wins.
He made the decision with both love and hatred where as the "Enlightened" perfectionist decision was improbable.
I guess it can be seen as how Itachi was truly stuck in the Cycle of Hatred or otherwise known as Samsara.

Love the thread, only thing i wanna add is that the statues from Itachi's flashbacks don't corrolate with the statues of Naruto and sasuke.

That flashback is very interesting now.
Nice work and nice find.
Those 2 statues in Itachi's flashback are as relevant as the 2 statues in the color page and maybe as the statues of the temple of fire:

But I don't think you get the right signification of Itachi's flashback. The statue of the left is not representing Naruto+Sasuke.

Isn't that the mix of Naruto and Sasuke?
One thing is obvious , it's the perfect mix of the 2 statues behind Naruto and Sasuke , eyes are a 50/50 mix.

Although there should be a meaning , and your knowledge helps to understand. Thanks for the share.

What if the statues in Itachi's flashback are representing guys in their full power mode , like the statues behind Sasuke and Naruto?

The trident spear looks more like a trishul than a varja , a trishul often represents : past/present/future ; creation/maintenance/destruction ; the three gunas.
Here Shiva holds a trishul:

You must be registered for see images

Rudra=Archer , god of storm.
But , Shiva as we know him today shares many features with the Vedic god Rudra,
That statue have similarities with the guy behind Sasuke ( crescent moon , trishul , 3rd eye , long hair in a bun...).
He holds a Damaru in his left hand:
Symbolically, the creation of the world begins when the lingam and yoni meet at the midpoint of the damaru, and the destruction takes place when they separate from each other.Shiva likes to dance at the rythm of the Damaru.

Thank KingHashirama :)
And yes, I agree that they do not correlate in the way that one represents Naruto and Sasuke but rather the left is the unity of Naruto and Sasuke (in Itachi's flasback).

It's a very refreshing read on Naruto/Sasuke. I'm glad these kind of threads are being made again.
