Was Nagato a "Genius" as a child?

Keep in mind that Sasuke, Neji , Itachi and several other ninja have been called Genius's but don't compare to Nagato at all.

As a child he mastered all 5 elements in 3 years. 3 years into Sasuke's training he could do a Chidori.

He also effortlessly solo'd a Chuunin as a younger child. And 2 other Chuunin/Jonin even earlier!

He was able to control 6 bodies at once and have them fight in formation.. Imagine doing that while having a conversation with Konan? His chakra control is superior to any seen in the manga. ( Obito Showed the ability to "Control" The six paths, but not to the same extent as Nagato)

He practically developed or discovered all of the Rinnegan jutsu in existence ( Since Hagoromo ) and was able to form the Akatsuki and over throw Hanzo.


He could even control the rain.

And it wasn't because of the Rinnegan either, he had to learn how to use it, so everything was him.

Are we rating him with the rinnegan or without? I mean the rinnegan doesn't need training so i don't see how using the rinnegan is considered to be genius? Nagato hasn't shown much other than his massive chakra pool.

I say, he was average and this is coming from a nagato fan.
