Might Gai Overrated or Underrated ?

Honestly its the 8th gate that's overrated. It's extremely stupid if Madara gets injured or even harmed by the amazing "red steam" because it is only supposed to grant you the power of a hokage... Madara soloed all 5 kage when he wasn't nearly as powerful as he is now. So, I don't get what all the hype is about of the 8th gate basically I think Gai killed himself for no reason.

Kage is a symbol of strong person thats why kakashi was saying that 8th gate grants hokage level power.this doesn't proved that Gai is just on hokage level U_U

When people put him in the top ten, then he's overrated. Or when they put him above Kisame when he has the geographic advantage, when he lost to Gai, he was already weakened and several others had attacked him beforehand. Otherwise, he's usually underestimated. He is definitely in my top 20 along with Kakashi. I hope he does some significant damage to Madara though, he deserves to go out like the beast he is and it would be a huge troll moment that would make most fans angry if Madara somehow brushes off his attack.

Prior to facing Madara, he was considered fodder level by the majority of the fanbase in terms of combat, but still respectable as a character, because he was nice and funny. Now he is considered juubi jin level after chapter 667. He is way overrated now, but grossly underrated before.

I feel like he gets underrated due to his fight with Kisame. When he used Hirodura, and Kisame wasn't obliterated, I feel like his strength got a bit of a mark down in perception.

Guy is top 20-25 but people are putting him in the top 10 before we even see what Guy can really do.

Before these last few chapters, both he and kakashi were criminally underrated.(they are pretty much equals)

Now he is being over hyped.

I expect him to at least do some serious damage to madara(which he will easily heal from afterward.

Recently, overrated.

People pull that 8 gates trump card way too much now, practically almost every vs battle involving Gai now is a stomp because he can just use 8 gates, as if he would use it that freely in a sparring match.

I will admit in the past he was very underrated though.
