when wasn't lee the best? He has the most perseverance of anyone, fighting even unconscious. Ontop of that, he has the greatest fighting style at his disposal - drunken fist. Even base gai couldn't stop a base drunken lee. Even kimi got pushed back. Taking into account the fact that both kimi and guy were faster and better taijutsu users than lee at that time.

Lee was always the best taijutsu specialist, he just never let his drunk potential shine U_U

What? In the end, that's all martial arts is; kicks, punches and speed, but it's fighting with skill, which is what both Lee and Gai display. For example, in one swift movement, Gai turns a simple kick into a way to completely disarm his opponent [

Same goes for Lee, he constantly applies pressure and restricts his opponent's evasion margins [

]. The kick looks simple, but it was the best kick to use to disarm him, considering attacking him wouldn't make him drop Samehada since Kisame's got some of the strongest durability showings. Both have them skill and they've earned their right as taijutsu specialists.

I would wager that in a pure taijustu fight KCSM Naruto beats lee fairly easy ( frog fuu + sensing wins), rikido madara beats lee In taijustu ( dat kick) so does juubi jink obito.

Seriously, Naruto's sage mode enhanced taijustu has much better feats than lee's taijustu. Naruto can sense juubito moving, he dodges 3rds raikage stab- arguably one hit from frog fuu takes lee out

He might get an upgrade in a chapter or two? I am expecting straight to the 7th Gate though. It makes no sense for him to be stuck at 5th at this point.

I'm hoping he'll back-up Naruto and Sasuke in the upcoming fight against Madara and through that I'm hoping he at least displays the use of 6 Gates. 7 Gates would be an awesome power-up, but yeah, he's shown the least development out of K11 in Shippuden, but that's mainly because he's only been shown in one fight; Team Gai vs. Kisame at the beginning of Shippuden.

I am hoping that he might end up supporting Gai with 7th Gate. Lee does deserve an upgrade at this point. It's almost offensive that Neji got killed and he's also side-lined. I actually like Lee.
