I fail to see why people in this base equate not seeing someoen for so long doing something and then when they do show up and do something now and again they are suddenly well written and developed.

To me development that is considered good should be consistent enough and it shouldn't be something people only see in a fight -.- development goes way deeper than anyone cares to read into for this manga.

Sakura has development

deep bonds (are you blind?)

relevancy (again shes not going to die and she's been very relevant)

And she has resolve.

Who says she doesnt have a background, not because her story was simple.

Gai has a deep bond with Kakashi and Lee. Sakura has a deep bond with Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Tsunade.

Gai has been the same guy all series. Sakura has changed from a frightened loser, to a determined but still a ways to go kunoichi, to a good ninja and one of the best medics.

Gai gets background yes, but that's because he was introduced as an adult, and therefore has a background. Sakura isn't the type of character to have much background. In fact, seeing her as a child and going into young womanhood is her background so to speak, and Gai's one chapter background that's just, at its core, his story with Lee retold pales in comparison.

Sakura's resolve has increased and is on par with Gai's. To mock Sakura's resolve is laughable, she attacked Juubi clones head-on while a majority of the alliance gave up and started shitting their pants at the sight of it

Sakura isn't relevant? Who's been keeping the main character's heart beating for the past, what, five chaps and who was saving people in the beginning of the war with medical ninjutsu?

Sakura hate is so old now, give it a rest.

I agree with this 100%. People are just so delusional and blind when it comes to Sakura it isn't even funny.

-background After this chapter,I'd say so since we know Gai's dad but we don't know Sakura's parents. But in that regard, I think Gai is better developed than Lee as well. Although Gai is a much better character than both Sakura and Lee combined.
-development Not really, Gai hasn't really been developed much. He's always the type to talk about youth. Sakura was first shown to be quite repulsive near Naruto and always being flattered whenever Sasuke was around. She was also shown to be hotheaded. Now Sakura is quite close to Naruto and is willing to do whatever it takes to save him. Sasuke is no longer as relevant to her. Also manga showed that Ino used to be far superior to Sakura when they were in the academy. Now Sakura is much stronger and has better charisma than Ino.
-resolve Gai's resolve has always been quite high. Sakura's resolve used to be very low but now it is slowly approaching Gai.
-deeper bonds with others They seem pretty equal in that regard but Gai's bonds are stronger but one dimensional while Sakura's are more complex.
-relavancy The only arcs where Gai was more relevant was every arc after kage summit arc. Previously, Sakura has always been more relevant.
compared to a main character. The reason Gai seems so relevant is because he is about to die. If Sakura, a main character, were about to die for good, she'd probably get more development than Gai.
