Well we can't exactly rule out the possibility of her consuming the Mera Mera No Mi..

OT: I first I didn't want her to join because she's boring and her fighting style sucks butt. But I really want the next nakama to be a female, the Straw Hats is already lookin' like a sausage fest, so yeah I think she'll be a straw hat. Unlike with Vivi and the mermaid girl, Rebecca doesn't really have anything keeping her in Dressrosa.

I feel the same. I much prefer we get a fighter added to the crew cause I don't want Oda to deviate into fan service. Don't get me wrong, I love the females but I feel like Oda has a good blend of it the way he does now.

It's a big possibility but I wouldn't rule out other candidates yet. Or even nobody joining them this arc.

Here's why she can't :

-She's too young.
-She's too weak.
-And have no goal like the other straw hats. ( except winning the Mera Mera fruit )

Its true that we need a new female member , but she has to be more powerful than Robin ( that way when Sanji or Zoro face off with a powerful female , she will fight her )


PS : Sanji won't hit a woman and Zoro won't go all out against one.

1. She mirrors Vivi. Vivi didn't join the Strawhats.
2. Viola is a better candidate!

Viola (like all other Strawhats) is based on a character from external fiction or a real person:
- Luffy = Oda
- Zoro = Francois L'Ollanais
- Sanji = Steve Buscemi
- Franky = Frankenstein (also: pre skip Ace Ventura and Popeye)
- Brook = A character from a poem (forgot the name. But two of Laws crewmates also derive from this poem)
- Robin = Cindarella
- Nami = Cat Woman
- Chopper = Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer
- Usopp = The boy who cried "Wolf" (written by Aesopp)

And VIOLA:
- Viola = Violet Gibson

She was famed for shooting the fascist leader of Italy: Mussolini. Mussolini draws similarities with Donquixote Doflamingo. Viola now has a motive to shoot Doflamingo (to at least weaken him before Luffy fights him). Riku has been beaten to a bloody pulp. Now that both Doflamingo and Viola are at the same location and Viola has a motive to assassinate Doflamingo I believe she will.

Another thing:
Strawhat criteria:
1. A situation arises where someone is needed
- Viola is more knowledgeable about the New World than any current member of the crew. She would also be able to warn the crew about incoming threats and weather due to her abilities. Saving their asses.

2. A situation arises where Luffy fights a "boss" whom is in anyway linked to the candidate
- A la Doflamingo

3. During the arc the characters backstory is revealed
- Viola's backstory has been revealed (so has Rebeccas. But she doesn't fit the other criteria)

4. The crewmate will want to join the crew, but will feel the need to stay (Not Zoro or Robin included). The new crew member is also leaving something behind.
- (e.g. Nami, Cocoyashi village. Usopp, Kaya. Sanji, the Baratie. Chopper, Doctorine/Hiriluk. Franky, the Franky Brothers and Iceburg. Brook, his dead crew on the ship, he also couldn't leave without his shadow.) And now: Viola and her Royalty. Viola also definitely wants to join the crew, mainly due to Sanji.

5. The crew member needs a unique skill nobody in the crew has.
- Rebecca doesn't have any unique skills the crew lacks. However Viola's a great Dancer and Lookout/Spy.
