You just gotta keep practicing man, play around with the tools that I told you before. Also play with the levels and color vibrancy and they will look better. Like the potential for these pics is there I can see it. You just gotta keep practicing and playing with the system.

Also try not to overdue the pictures, sometimes the pic doesn't really need much added to it but richer colors.

Keep these avatars somewhere. When you get the hang of it and start making only HQ avatars, look at these again. You'll see the difference. I fully understand what you mean, because i was the same way. But really, HQ is the most important thing in GFX. A plain HQ thing can be very good, whereas a LQ full of effects one won't.
