I don't know, Wolf Hunt is used only to make the jaegers eventually turn towards the revolutionary army. Also, the deathflag is kinda confirmed for Mein. Each time somebody confesses their love for the main character, they die or are fatally wounded..
My bet is on Shura. He's gonna kill Mein and Tatsumi will be given another power-up.

Mein is definitely dying after this. I can see Shura killing her, and then Tatsumi rampages, goes into depression after what happens and then Esdese/Akame is back in to the pairing wars U_U.

Confessing love to the main character is always a deathflag or a signal that something bad might really happen to them. Mein getting injured or even her death would mean a raging Tatsumi, thus he will get a new power up. That's how i see it..

I agree with Saby, it's classic that a character gets this much panel time with Tatsumi before they die in this manga.
It's obvious this is relationship is going to be used as a plot device, it was totally forced and didn't make sense. Toshiro is just trying to build before the fall.

Akame spent a lot of time with Tatsumi and she didn't die, oh wait...
Their relationship makes sense to me, got more panels together than the entire Night Raid combined.

Well at least when can all agree that mein is going to die soon. Whose going to kill her? Idk. After what Toshiro pulled with the last chapter he's clearly hard to predict.
How I think it will go:
I think it was foreshadowed that Tatsumi will fight the pedo clown for obvious reasons, also his power seems the best for fighting tatsumis teigu. Akame will probably fight the samurai guy since they both wield katana teigu that are similar in ability, making it the first one to get a cut looses match. Mein will fight dorothea and possibly get interference in her battle by shura or someone so that Dorothea can touch her, then she gets one sad line before she disintegrates to Tatsumi making him angry and helping him kill the clown. I see Leone fighting that singing chick because leone has heightened senses, so it will make a battle against someone using sound difficult.
