1. The Kyubi hadn't killed many konoha villagers prior to the sealing
2. Mito, the wife of Hash had kurama and was probably revered as a respectable woman
3. Kushina met Minato and that helped fill that empty void
4. You mess with Kushina you unfortunately mess with Minato.

Kushina's case;
1. Kurama hadn't attacked Konohagakure yet.
2. Kushina becoming the jinchuuriki was a secret only a select few knew about.

Naruto's case;
1. Kurama took out a percentage of the population.
2. Everyone knew Naruto was the jinchuuriki
3. The 4th Hokage died in the process.

Pretty much all this, although I do think at least quite a few people of Konoha had to have known she was a jinchuuriki. I feel like the majority of them would have known though. The only reason not everyone knew about Naruto was because of the "law" to not speak about any of it. Without such a rule in place, even if originally only a handful of people knew about it word can spread fast. Without the law to stop anyone from talking about it Im sure it was generally common knowledge. A giant 9 tailed demon fox being held inside of a human being is definately a topic worth mentioning to one or all of your friends, even in NV.

As for why they discriminated against Naruto its just as everyone said. The 9 tails had attacked recently enough to the begining of the series that its safe to assume that ALOT of the villagers were either alive during the attack, or heard what happened from a relative who was alive during the incident. Many of the villagers didnt seem to understand the concept of the jinchuuriki sealing method. They talked and acted as if they thought Naruto WAS the 9 tails, rather than holding it inside of himself. Id say a combination of these two things and probably a few other random circumstances are the cause.

My thoughts exactly.

After she got married to minato, i would like to see that though ;)
Now that I think about it, I think she was made fun of by her classmates for having red hair & being tomboyish ~don't quote me on that tomboyish part~
