Why didn't everyone shun Kushina?

When Naruto was the 9-Tails Jinchuriki, everyone shunned and hated him until he gained their respect. But to me it seems like they didn't really shun or hate on Kushina for being the jinchuriki when she was younger like they did Naruto. And I highly doubt Kushina performed an amazing feat at such a young age as to earn their respect. What are your thoughts on this?

Because the 9-Tails hadn't just killed half the population and destroyed the village.

I think the more plausible reason is because kushina did some "favors" to the men of the village.

The fact that she was a jinchuriki was kept secret from the village, but not for naruto.

1. The Kyubi hadn't killed many konoha villagers prior to the sealing
2. Mito, the wife of Hash had kurama and was probably revered as a respectable woman
3. Kushina met Minato and that helped fill that empty void
4. You mess with Kushina you unfortunately mess with Minato.

An angry UZUMAKI woman who is Jinchuuriki of 100% Kurama is a nightmare...I can only imagine her when she is on her periods.

This. There probably wasn't a single person alive who witnessed Madara's attack with the Kyuubi, which wasn't even hit the village, and up until Obito's attack it was safely sealed within Mito.

There's also the possibility that they didn't even know Kushina was the Jinchuriki.

Didn't she say it was too secret and only the Hokage and elders knew?

The village probably just didn't know what the was

Kushina's case;
1. Kurama hadn't attacked Konohagakure yet.
2. Kushina becoming the jinchuuriki was a secret only a select few knew about.

Naruto's case;
1. Kurama took out a percentage of the population.
2. Everyone knew Naruto was the jinchuuriki
3. The 4th Hokage died in the process.

Pretty much all this, although I do think at least quite a few people of Konoha had to have known she was a jinchuuriki. I feel like the majority of them would have known though. The only reason not everyone knew about Naruto was because of the "law" to not speak about any of it. Without such a rule in place, even if originally only a handful of people knew about it word can spread fast. Without the law to stop anyone from talking about it Im sure it was generally common knowledge. A giant 9 tailed demon fox being held inside of a human being is definately a topic worth mentioning to one or all of your friends, even in NV.

As for why they discriminated against Naruto its just as everyone said. The 9 tails had attacked recently enough to the begining of the series that its safe to assume that ALOT of the villagers were either alive during the attack, or heard what happened from a relative who was alive during the incident. Many of the villagers didnt seem to understand the concept of the jinchuuriki sealing method. They talked and acted as if they thought Naruto WAS the 9 tails, rather than holding it inside of himself. Id say a combination of these two things and probably a few other random circumstances are the cause.

I feel like jinchuriki and their uses weren't really understood let alone accepted until this war. Sakura, who is a very book-smart shinobi, didn't even fully understand Naruto's situation until late into part II. I feel like Akatsuki forced the information into the general knowledge field and forced villages to understand what the Jinchuriki really were. This is backed by the fact that even Gaara's and Bee's predecessors died due to being incompatible with their bijuu or lacking the proper power to contain them, something Shinobi with vast amounts of experience in the subject should know about.

Even Deidara (I think) mentioned that something like 4 or 5 of the villages they visited willingly allowed their jinchuriki to be taken, and a few others were essentially outcasts without friends or allies to miss them when they were taken.

people didn't hate naruto because he was a jinchurki but because he had the monster that destroyed and killed alot of kohona people before hand.
