He actually also tried it on naruto but only failed because of the kyuubi. The same thing sasuke did to naruto failed for orochimaru because orochimaru tried it when naruto was already transformed while sasuke tried it before he started to accept the kyuubi's chakra. [

It's not Temporary Paralysis Technique. It's Killing Intent.
It probably isn't Genjutsu (we only have young Sasuke claiming it wasn't Genjutsu), but it works similar to it. Orochimaru manipulates victims' brain and sends visions of death on them, leaving them paralysed and defenseless.

Morover, Sasuke didn't break out of it with just hurting himself. He needed a Sharingan upgrade (special chakra sprouted in his brain) and THEN he needed to stab himself. It's not easy to get rid of it.

And lol at people saying FRS or Frog Chant end Orochimaru. Now with 2 different ways of sensing, his intel, amazing speed and reaction feats and several different defensive/situational abilities, he's not getting hit by anything Naruto throws at him.

Orochimaru simply merges with the ground before the Frog Chant is finished and leaves Ma and Pa with a wasted jutsu and sore throats. Thanks to that they cannot use it again.
