Yamata No Orochi Vs Susanoo

Yamata no Orochi (八岐の大蛇?, lit. "8-branched giant snake") or Orochi, translated as the Eight-Forked Serpent in English, is a legendary 8-headed and 8-tailed[1] [2] Japanese dragon that was slain by the Shinto storm-god Susanoo.

We all know this is how it happened in the manga, according to the myth.

When i read further I noticed that the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi ("Grasscutter Sword"), was presented by Susano’o to Amaterasu as a reconciliation gift. According to legends, she bequeathed it to her descendant Ninigi along with the Yata no Kagami mirror and Yasakani no Magatama jewel or orb. This sacred sword, mirror and jewel collectively became the three Imperial Regalia of Japan.

We know that Itachi's Susanoo had both the sword and the mirror. Could it be that Sasuke or Kabuto/orochimaru or even Naruto is going to look for the Jewel. Kishimoto has followed the myth exactly untill now.

Itachi's gift ? Yasakani no Magatama

The Yasakani no Magatama stands for benevolence, and is one of the three items used in the ceremony of imperial ascension. In Japanese mythology, the jewels, along with the mirror, were hung on the tree outside of Amaterasu's cave (where she had hidden) to lure her out.

Could it be that Naruto got this from Itachi, so he got something to counter Amaterasu.

No way, Susanoo is only possible with the Mangekyou Sharingan, what itachi gave naruto was an Uchiha like ability to control the nine-tails. (Just like madara did) which would help naruto control his body more.

I firmly believe that Kishimoto is following the legend in it's entirety. We just have to wait and see in which direction he goes.

I'm not saying Itachi gave Susanoo to Naruto. I'm suggesting that he might have given him the 3rd legendary artifact as a weapon against Amaterasu. So he got something to counter the MS.

the Yasakani no Magatama is very similar to the neckless of Rikudou Sennin in therms of format :) don't u agree ?
Oh never thought of it that way, it kinda does. Good find.

He has, Itachi loved Konoha. He knew Sasuke might try to destroy it. That's why he said i hope you never have to use it. He wishes he can talk Sasuke out of it.

Actually what I believe Itachi told Naruto during their encounter was nothing more than what to expect in his upcoming fight against Sasuke. He probably referred to the necklace Tsunade gave Naruto as the Yasakani no Magatama jewel. (Look at the resemblance, it's what I believe Itachi might have told Naruto about.) But I totally know exactly what you're referring to.

Wow that was awesome, but what does the jewel/orb do? I don't that it was so straight forward as stop the black flames. The sword had the power of sealing, the mirror had the power of deflecting or "reflecting" anything in front of it, and the black flames destroys everything it touches. So the jewel must either be the balance between those items/abilities or a weapon. Which begs the question, if you already have an ultimate defense-jutsu, an ultimate all destroying black flame ninjutsu with eyes to control it, and a sword that seals powerful chakra beings in a ever lasting genjutsu what else do you need? The only thing left is physical strength and power that would make some invincible. All of Susake's new-jutsu from Itachi put a lot of strain on Susake's body. I don't know.
