It is called the 4th great shinobi war (not the kill Naruto's friends war). The villains are not going to specifically target Naruto's comrades. They target everyone.

In war even closest friends die,so what makes this one so different?

Too bad the Fourth Shinobi war isn't like the battles in mangas like Beserk where no one is safe.

Well they did demolish Soul Society the first time and were only forced to retreat because of Juha Bach's time limit.Now they are beating most of the captain class Soul Reapers despite most of them getting back their Bankais.

By you guys' standards, there are not a lot of primary characters for Kishi to kill off. Not every death can be someone close to Naruto. Read my responses to miromiro, Obito Uchiha the wrath and blazekev90.

Three captains were killed/ defeated in two chapters.

You are right that closest friends die, but let me ask you something. In the American Revolution, do you think that the British specifically targeted George Washington's friends? No! They targeted the whole army. As a result, George Washington did have living friends after the war (unlike the vision that you have for Naruto). You would be right in saying that the war has had only one death if the war was Akautski vs. Konoha 11. However it is not. It is Akautski vs. the 5 nations and the samurai. Therefore, Naruto's friends are not going to get special attention from the villains. This is why their survival is quite plausible even for a war.

Gaara already died once. I'd prefer an old guy like Onoki or Ay to die.

Naruto and his comrades became at this point the main targets in this war, since basically, it's Naruto and his friends who face Madara. Tsunade and Oonoki should have already been killed by Madara, so should have Kakashi by Obito. I don't see why Kishimoto is keen on keeping them alive.

Besides Neji who exactly has died in this war?Kakashi did'nt die when he should've several times from overusing Kamui,nobody except for fodder and forgetful characters have been killed.

I've been reading Beserk lately and I like the battles that go on in the manga because literally nobody gets out of one unscathed.

It's because Kishi does'nt have the courage to kill off popular characters unless they are villians.

Fodders are like White Zetsu. Many and nothing special.

I can't give a description of those who died in the World Wars either but that doesnt make those wars any less tragic.

I'm sure if you put in the time and effort you could find the life stories of any WW1+2 vet.Does seeing Random Fodder #24321 die make you feel anything besides a resounding "meh"?
