It's pretty much the Internet community's overreaction on things and you tend to get crazy predictions of Zac Efron being the new Peter Parker etc. Disney wants a bigger slice of the male boys/teens market since a lot of their current offerings gear toward tween girls ala Miley Cyrus/Jonas Brothers. People also forget that Disney can distribute films through their own companies such as Miramax who have released other R rated films and not be tied down by the mickey mouse presence. Then again most of these comic book films are PG-13 anyways right?
