Madara was watching the fight not just someone, are you not listening? Hashirama obviously was inside an illusion, as indicated when madara used his Mangekyo jutsu prior getting stabbed.

Have you asked yourself why did Hashirama 'fell' to floor after that battle?

Lack of stamina would be a good answer, but then again... he was a Senju. How could he fell to floor from exhaustion? That's strange...
