Well....when Hashirama says that Obito was stronger than him in front of the other Edo Hokage....I believe he does it with the thought that he is the strongest of them all. As a statement to his power comparable to the others. Well....I believe Hiruzen and Tobirama were the only two around. Although.....Hiruzen agrees.... and agrees from an inferior manner imho. Id say Madara wins with virtually no difficulty. I don't see him being that much superior in his prime.
