From recent chapter we see that Obito states that Jiraiya defeated him.
As most will say this means Jiraiya > Obito (Manga fact)
The Truth of the matter is Jiraiya(Younger Son) Idealogy of peace was the means that did Obito in which was delivered through Naruto since Naruto chose the Path of Peace and not the path of might. If you notice in the series Naruto is the only shinobi to use peace 100% and not might.
The reason shinobi fail to bring peace is cause they use Peace AND Might or just Might
Through all of his teachings about peace and one day people understanding each other Jiraiya tried teaching his students that just cause the world is terrible and full of hatred. You can't use hatred to end hatred! One must take the higher path to ensure peace is brought into the world. With this being said Obito understood this at the hour of his death much like Nagato realized it when Naruto chose the path to not kill Nagato. It is truly amazing that Jiraiya understood what was needed to end the cycle of hatred yet he did not know the means to do it. Thankfully his last student (Naruto) knew that in order to end hatred one must not show hatred. One thing I can truly give props to Naruto for is the fact that Naruto understands that killing someone is not the means of ending hatred. In this naruto world it is a battle of Ideas more than a battle between shinobi.
The reason why Naruto succeeds where others fail is due to the fact that Naruto uses 100% peace and not a mixture of Might and Peace UNLESS Might is needed to bring reasoning of peace.
Let's take a look at all 'Peace bringers' in the series that failed:
Itachi: To bring peace he used might to slaughter the uchiha clan
Hashirama: He used might to try and bring his friend down instead of focusing harder to reason peace
NAgato: To bring peace to the world he used his might to try and force it
Obito: Only used Might
Minato: If Minato focused more on discovering the identity of masked man instead of defeating him this could have been avoided
Jiraiya: Tried to use his might to stop Pain instead of trying harder to talk to him.
Anyways, with this being said Naruto 100% peace approach is the only solution since it changes people's hearts who realize that they should not receive it from Naruto.
