Mainstream rap is usally just used for hype music or parties. If you want insightful rap listen to artsist like Kendrick, Drake has some good songs mostly about relationships, Eazy E, 2 pac, J cole, Lupe, Kid Cudi
I-I don't even know what to say to this. Someone who has been acclaimed as the best rapper ever by many, a living legend in the rap game, who has gone multiple-platinum on many albums, who was the first rapper to win an Academy Award, who went diamond, who has one of the largest fan bases of any musical genre, DIDN'T LAST LONG? I can't even begin to comprehend the ignorance and inaccuracy I've just seen.Eminem raps about meaningful stuff and he didn't last long, so hoes and money is the way to go I guess
About the drugs though, no one told him to go and spend his money on drugs and get addicted. That's his own damn fault. He made a terrible choice that could've been avoided. I've never smoked, popped pills or gotten drunk, because it's a life choice. I've never been on a plane. I die in high altitudes. Also, what mainstream music do I listen to ._.?You're one of those who thinks being a rapper is all glammer. You think being famous and rich takes away all stress? Drugs still have negative and life-ruining effects. Look at Eminem's addiction to sleeping pills. Rappers are also constantly working and traveling. You remember that one plane trip where you couldn't wait to get home and sleep because you were tired as all f*ck? Imagine doing that several times a week AND performing. Not to mention extended periods of not being able to see their families and having to perform for their fans. You rest, you let them down, and that's one of the worst things you can do as an entertainer. Writing raps, good raps, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole-level raps, takes a lot of mental work. Do you have any idea how hard it is to write songs like Sing About Me, Sideline Story or Lose Yourself on a regular basis? Do you have any idea how versatile with the English language and intelligent you have to be to write songs like those? No, because you just listen to the mainstream bullshit.
Many rap for the love or rap, but first and foremost, being a rapper is still a job.
Kendrick is the only ok rapper you posted, you're only supporting the OP's point listing those people.big sean
kendrick lamar

I'M AWESOME
You do realize Eminem got a prescription for sleep medication because he couldn't sleep from touring and working so much, but ended up taking too many and got addicted after his best friend Proof died? Noo, of course you don't, dear.About the drugs though, no one told him to go and spend his money on drugs and get addicted. That's his own damn fault. He made a terrible choice that could've been avoided. I've never smoked, popped pills or gotten drunk, because it's a life choice. I've never been on a plane. I die in high altitudes. I don't *hate* rap, I just hate the people who rap about how their life is so hard and how they worked so hard to get there. Sure, having to write things very often puts on stress, but that's not just for rappers. It puts on stress for any genre. I've seen you freestyle. Yeah, for it to be good requires wordplay and knowledge of the English language, but that's apparently not hard for high school dropouts.

Forgot big kritDepends on who you listen too.

Rap about life and struggle. Like I said it depends on who you listen too.
Addiction is just all in the mind. So yeah, it's his fault for getting addicted. But you called me dear, so I guess you can say things are getting serious. You do realize Eminem got a prescription for sleep medication because he couldn't sleep from touring and working so much, but ended up taking too many and got addicted after his best friend Proof died? Noo, of course you don't, dear.
What's wrong with rapping about how hard your life has been or how much you've worked? First too many rappers rap about b*tches, drugs and money, now you also hate when they're real? Sounds you're just looking for and scraping up any excuse to hate on the genre.
Did you call me a ****ing high school dropout? Are we talking about any genre? No, we're talking about rap, so what is that even have to do with this? Does the fact that it takes lyrical talent to be good in any genre take anything away from rap? Of course not, so why you bringing useless stuff up?
Good reaction, I wanted that, was kinda bored LolI-I don't even know what to say to this. 1. Yes, it's his fault for taking so many, but it's reasonable to understand why it happened.Addiction is just all in the mind. So yeah, it's his fault for getting addicted. But you called me dear, so I guess you can say things are getting serious.
Because their life isn't hard. "Oh boy, I'm tired of touring and making millions, my life is so hard."
No, I'm talking about most rappers that I've heard about. No, but you mentioned how it puts stress on a rapper to think of lyrics. I countered with it puts stress on anyone to think of lyrics. You can't just single that stress to rappers.
You know how annoying you are? Hop off my tits, for real. I don't care for what you have to say.you dumbass. look at their life before they became famous like eminem. #shutup
Yeah, it's reasonable. Never said it wasn't.1. Yes, it's his fault for taking so many, but it's reasonable to understand why it happened.
2. And you know their life isn't hard how? You clearly see from their music that being rich and famous doesn't automatically make you happy, your life can still be hard.
3. But we're talking about rappers. You're acting like it doesn't take effort to write raps, I was saying it does, it takes a lot.
