Earth Release or Doton is one of the basic elemental nature transformation techniques which allows the user to manipulate the surrounding earth for offensive and defensive purposes. Unlike other elements which come and go with time, it is an ever eternal presence in the environment which endures all types of weather regardless of how harsh conditions become. * just like Her; she always stays by my-side *

One of the main advantage of the earth release is its eternal presence and on top of that its one of the most versatile, durable and sturdy element. Earth can be used defensively in order to block or dissipate strong force of Waves of water or powerful gust of winds. It can with stand heat, it can block incoming projectiles and is strong against water because it absorbs Water naturally. Earth style is weak against lightning because it conducts lightning and it causes the earth to break up making it lose its natural composure and breaking down mainly due to piercing ability Lightning has.

Since earth is one of the element which has Physical substance it can shaped into various structural forms which can be used defensively and offensively. Further more it has the advantage of the terrain giving the user freedom of making limitless sure shot successful combos.

As Earth can absorb water. When used with water, it can create mud. It can be also also used with Water to create KG Wood. Same way it can be fused with fire to make super heated almost like lava. If earth is combined with fire and wind it can create a powerful KG called as Particle or dust release.

Good explanation. I liked how you mentioned how it can be molded into different structural forms. This is what makes Earth release so useful. It's extremely plentiful, so you don't need a source of it other than the ground really. However, for most earth jutsu you'll need to be touching the ground, so some can't be performed from mid air. Also, there are several kinds of earth. Some of them are a sticky adhesive mud, a swamp like material, and normal mud. However, earth doesen't just deal with manipulating the ground, you can also make things lighter and heavier, make things harder by forming an armor around yourself, and excreting substances from your mouth. Earth is an extremely versatile element, and one of the most useful elements all around.

Alright, but there is a lot to add. Look at my previous post to ~Zonta~ as well as ~Zonta~'s own post for more information. Earth release is an extremely versatile element, and one of the most used elements as well. You can use it to manipulate the terrain to your favor. You can mold it to form tools, pillars, shields, etc. Almost anything actually, earth release is strong to water, which is a great bonus as water is an extremely powerful element itself. It however is weak to lightning, because the lightning can easily destroy the earth.

Goody I like you. First ever student to ask questions! The rest seem to want to hurry up and get to learning jutsu xD
But I can't really blame them, I was the same lol.

1. Earth is weak to lightning, because it is vibrating at an extremely fast speed. It is then able to easily break through the earth that is created through earth release. Most lightning techniques also have extremely high piercing potential, so that does indeed help. All forms of earth are weak to lightning.

2.

D rank lightning > D rank earth (and will continue)

C rank earth and D rank lightning will cancel out.

B rank earth > D rank earth (and will continue)

To defeat C rank lightning, the earth needs to be at least B rank (just so they cancel out). If you want them to cancel out and have the earth move on slightly weakened, then you need at least A ranked earth.

To defeat B rank lightning, the earth needs to be at least A rank (they will cancel eachother out). To defeat earth and continue, you will need at least S ranked earth.

Yeah, lightning is strong to wood release. The elemental strengths and weaknesses are the same as with earth and lightning.
Meaning that C rank lightning would cancel out B rank wood. But B rank lightning would cancel out B rank wood and continue.
