There was no mistake, that Hitagi was feeling something going wrong. It wasn't the passion or connection she was feeling before but the threat of something terrible happening. It was how calm he was that made her tense, something was about to happen and he stood there unfazed as she moved away. There was a sense of recognition that she was about to react to but he was there by her side. Hitagi felt like she was holding her breath when he brought her closer to him, a protective hold that she hadn't felt in ages. His captive gaze captured her eyes once more, trust and love overwhelmed her at that moment.

Life is short, and we have to do what we can to make every single moment count. There has to be no regrets in a perfect life, every moment lived to the fullest, taking risks as if your soul was on the tip of a sword. But this moment, it wasn't anything like that; it was very simple, yet the complex, defining the night to these two individuals on the roof-top of the tallest building in the village of Iwagakure. The moon was the brightest today and closest today, for a second one might believe it to be an entity on the planet. In the darkest sky this moon lit up guiding every firefly to its own light. Even after all that might, it was positioned such that it was just a background for the eternal moment that the two were experiencing on the rooftop. The light of the moon was shining through the silhouettes of the clothes.
Rairen had indeed held this girl's hand, brought her closer to him, but it wasn't due to any lust. The intention that was within the emotion was mixed itself, partly because even Rairen didn't had the true answer. Her hands felt on his hands sealed perfectly together, their fingers almost intertwined for the instant he had her closest to him. This feeling wasn't normal, it wasn't something to be explained by logic. It felt like an everlasting moment ending within the shortest interval possible. He wished it had last forever, but no one can deny reality. It had to end.
The other reason for his actions was the image that his eyes had shown him before he took off, he had foreseen the ruckus in the tavern and knew what was soon to follow, even after realizing how powerful this angel in front of him was, he still wanted to protect her. He wanted to force his life on the sword it it wasn't already on it, there was no sane explanation for his feeling, but they were all real. When she was closer to him, he heard her heartbeat race, he had memorized every single note of her heart in that short moment, he felt her warmth within reach as she tried to avoid eye contact. On the other hand, he wasn't afraid to let his eyes witness the beauty, as much as he can, because deep within there was a fear of not seeing that beauty again, what if he was to die this very moment, the only wish he would want to come true will be seeing her again. and again. and again!
To no surprise Hitagi hesitated, just like he did countering his latent feelings, as she had her hand release and took a gentle step back, he moved further closer to her, now enough to see pass her shoulder, wrapping his left hand around her waist he looked into her eyes as his wings opened... Majestic wings flashed opened from his shoulders as the flames burned to complete the shape of wing as large as a phoenix, covering meters on either side and then with just one flap he had them wrapped like a dome around her, it was far from touching her, just enough to provide her warmth of an angle, it wasn't to be closer to her, it was to protect her from what followed.
His right eye had turned into the third seal of the forbidden ability that the Uchiha possessed, he had seen the incoming as the rooftop crashed and they are swept off a floor to stand on. Being close enough so that her body is pressing against him, he held her tight as the wings had already blocked the debris raised from either side, and flapping once again they were lifted off the roof, meters high, all within a matter of second. His wings kept them flying, and safe as the witnessed the tavern from the hole opened in the roof. Rairen seemed not bothered at all, as if it was a "regular" thing, his focus was much drawn by the angel he had in his arms.
Her eyes caught on something forming on Rairen's back as he whispered something she didn't quite catch because she was too intrigued by what she was seeing. Her eyes widened as she realized what she was looking at, wings. They were wings opening on fire! She was so amazed and couldn't keep her eyes of them until she realized they were wrapping around her. Hitagi almost wanted to scream, she was going to bed set on fire.. The heat was pouring off the wings but she was never burned. She gazed up at Rairen, feeling her body against his made her face even warmer than they already were. Right when her eyes connected with Rairen's again, she heard debris and wood breaking, sizzling against the wings. Hitagi couldn't stop herself from looking down with dread in her eyes. The tavern roof was collapsing in and they no longer were able to stand on the roof.
Hitagi gasped as Rairen pressed her tighter against him, his wings flapped out from around them. She quickly looked into his eyes and realized he was still calm like he knew this was going to happen. They were flying, she didn't need to look down to feel them hovering over the tavern that was now falling apart. Hitagi was confused but memorized by how Rairen looked at that very moment. The flaming wings, his blazing red eyes of a Uchiha, but he still looked at her as if they were in a meadow alone instead of hovering over a once fully roofed Rock Tavern of Iwagakure. There was no doubt that Rairen looked like a fallen angel to Hitagi. She couldn't help but slide her right hand up and gently caressed his cheek, tracing down his jawbone as if she was really touching a real fallen angel.
