Even though I'm bad with women, I have one piece of advice that should make it easier for you guys:
Women are different, but not aliens. They rely on a communication protocol similar to that amongst men and that's talking.
And Dark Sage is right as well. Some people are dying to get attention, so if you happen to get it, don't get all shy and stuff and consider it to be a gift. Besides, if you use the attention properly, you get plus points with the women too.
As for my message to women: Damn you for being so complicated.

Verry good advice there huh! But why curse us! I can see your such an ah never mind. Maybe you have get your girls attention, now that you have her your relationship w/her get conplicated, ask yourself why would this happen?

Every girl is different. Of course, there are going to be accepted boundaries for each one, but personally, when guys are trying to flirt, I hate them making it obvious with winks and whatnot. Obvious attention just turns me off- to begin with, anyway.
As anna said, timing is essential. Take in how the girl is feeling and work around that.
