Good thread. But,
1)It was made clear that the Uchihas were not behind the attack. It was probably Kirigakure shinobi or Leaf Shinobi wearing Kirigakure masks.
2)Obito didn't start the war because of Rin, Rin was merely a catalyst. Obito was already an orphan before Rin's death, and when Madara saved him, Madara manipulated him into joining his side and probably Madara orchestrated the attack, so that Obito being an Uchiha would awaken his MS, lose hope and join his side, which is what exactly happened.

The Uchiha clan wouldn't have anything to gain from this. The take over started to happen after the kyuubi attack because the head of the clan was out for the attack. It looked suspicious seeing as the Uchiha clan are known to be able to manipulate the kyuubi. That's what started the seeds of rebelion.

Very good point , I was thinking of the worst possible scenario.
There is a little argue , all the great well known Uchiha are on the battelfield of the 3rd war , not to raise suspition.
