Medical/support ninja:Heal shikamaru to some extent ,assisting team make in battle and supplying Kyubi chakra shinobi alliance
Offensive:From my view he lack variability of skills
Defensive:Kyubi cloak defense is not as good as susano or gaara sand but it can protect against katon(from what we seen against Madara

i believe Naruto is more of a support/Medical ninja (with Kurama)

Remember that time when shikamaru led the team to recollect sasuke from the 4 ninja sound people?

shikamaru placed him in the middle as his explosive personality can easily support the back or the front.



thats the simplest way to think things through.
he's obviously a support.

with experience though, he could be the main hitter.
his skills are too diverse but lacks creativity.

he can either heal, defend or attack.
since he's inexperienced but ridicolously strong.
he's still support.
