Why is it assumed Yata and Totsuka statements are hyperbole?

Yata's description states all attacks lose their meaning. Lose. Their. Meaning.

So Totsuka Blade can't cut down everything then? Because It Loses. Its. Meaning. when it attacks the Yata Mirror, which means its not perfect

Totsuka Blade can cut down any enemy? Not anymore, Yata Mirror stops that.

Totsuka Blade seals things? Not anymore, Yata Mirror stops that.

You can show me a grand total of zero scans suggesting they don't live up to their hype.

Totsuka and Yata had the chance to prove their "invincibility" when nagato pulled out chibaku tensei

If Totsuka can seal everything then Itachi would have no trouble sealing it
If Yata can make "any attack lose its meaning" then chibaku tensei should have lost its meaning, whatever the hell it means

And just let Naruto and Bee die?

Ok

Kishimoto stated himself that

- Totsuka Blade cuts/pierces anything

I would understand if this was dated info that has been disproven... But it hasn't. All feats and scans in the manga suggest Yata Mirror blocks all attacks and Totsuka can pierce anything.

Precisely.

Yep, you directly contradicted yourself. /thread

That explanation doesn't mean that the mirror doesn't have limits. It doesn't negate attacks like you believe it does as the manga shows. It repels them (Bomb Tags were repelled, Sasuke's Katana was repelled, Hydra was repelled), and it has to be strong enough to repel an attack, then we get into the hyperbolic area of Yata Mirror's entry. Its not like it flat out negated the whole attack.
Yes. And repelling is the same as negating them in this context; it mirrors them back. That was illustrated well. The Yata mirror is a spiritual weapon with no physical or real form. These weapons o not exist in this realm. How will you break this spiritual energy? That's logically impossible. Of course, the Yata mirror will not protect you from all techniques, since not all techniques are ones who are shaped into a form which hit the shield directly. Chibaku Tensei still sucks you up and buries you in tons of rocks. Swamp of the Underworld would still let Susanoo sinking. The White rage technique would still affect your hearing and vision. These are the limits of hype saying all techniques lose their effect in front of god's power.

But here, I don't see why the mirror shouldn't repel the rest, whether a TBB, Shinra Tensei, etc. when the ability dictates, that it alters its properties in accordance with the properties of the incoming attack, thus rendering it ineffective? I mean common, this isn't hype, this is the ability Yata is said to have. If Nagato uses a boss toad Shinra Tensei at Yata, it will mirror it back at him. Like the force of ST was turned against Tendo when he couldn't repel Kyuubi.

(1) Show me Helmsplitter's databook hype.
(2) Yata's description states all attacks lose their meaning. Lose. Their. Meaning. So if it breaks any defense, guess what? It doesn't break any defense any more.
(3) Ditto for Totsuka.

1. Databook? That hype came from the manga.

2. That means there is a defense out there it can't break, thus invalidating its hype meaning you are still wrong as Vegeto30294 kindly pointed out. The reason why it can't break it doesn't change the fact it can't break it.

So Totsuka cannot pierce everything, because there exists an object it cannot pierce.

lmao, great point.

Right, because we can trust random shinobi 5470 about it's hype lmao.

There goes your whole argument.

Would you guys agree that Preta-Path absorbs any form of Chakra because the Databook said it and Nagato absorbed a Rasengan, oil and a Bijuu cloak which in fact contains only a small part of the Bijuu's full Chakra? Certainly a lot of you do. Yata's hype is built exactly like that.

Definition: Totsuka has the power to change every one of its properties, allowing to alter its attributes in accordance with the attributes of the attack, rendering the attack ineffective.

This isn't hype anymore. It is an accurate explanation about the Yata mirror's properties. Exactly like the information and effect of Jutsu's like Tsukuyomi or Kagebunshin are not outdated, because they explain how the technique works.

Hope you guys see the difference.

Given this logic, I agree. But Databook logic cannot be applied at all because of various paradoxes and contradictions between it and the manga. The sword in which breaks all defenses was shown in the war, correct? Now we have the Yata, stated to deflect all attacks, correct? That's a complete contradiction as by this logic, the Sword can't break the Yata shield, BUT IT CAN (in both instances) and Yata can't defend against it, BUT IT CAN. You can't really apply that logic and not expect a blatant contradiction. And the Preta Path example doesn't hold any merit either as it is a blatant no limits fallacy in of itself.

Ok, if you're going to nitpick.

Yes, Totsuka pierces everything except Yata Mirror.

Until I see something from the manga that suggests otherwise I have reason to believe and stick behind the hype of the totsuka and yata, simple as that.

The hype of breaking all defenses is the same as the hype to repel all attacks.
Giving elaboration on the ability of the Yata mirror however isn't hype. :)

You're just some stupid kid in High School, it's literally too frustrating to debate with some kid that likes a homoerotic series about disney characters.

My argument circles around Totsuka as well, which was also hyped up by Zetsu and the Databook. So no, my argument is perfectly fine. Not to mention its still hype, regardless of where it came from.

1. You probably aren't that much older than me so the term "kid" really doesn't sound right here.

2. Homoerotic? Kingdom Hearts? About Disney Characters? Read up on the series and get back to me pal if that is what you really believe.

3. None of this has anything to do with the discussion.

Finally, its ironic how you call me stupid despite this post....especially the bolded.

Sorry that was uncalled for let's hug. I've actually played all the KoH games.

ANYWAYS, my point was that Yata's definition prevents any contradictions. Totsuka can pierce anything, except Yata Mirror, because Yata Mirror makes all attacks lose their meanings. In that way, it's not a contradiction.

Kishi's Word > Some random shinobi (Which is technically Kishi, but writing and plot prevent it from being an accurate account).

But that is a contradiction right there. To justify Yata's repelling of all attacks is the same as justifying the swords ability to break all defenses. It can't be done, and the only case it can would be illogical because you would be disregarding one side (in this instance the swords capabilities to break the shield/mirror) to favor another.
