anbu isn't really a rank, it's like a job. he worked for the anbu but he was a jounin.

Well anbu is a ninja rank it says it on Narutopedia under ninja rank

narutopedia isn't the manga. Anyway, he just quit the anbu so he isn't an anbu anymore

Anyhow .... Correct me if i'm wrong but..
Anbu = the Hokage's special Ops.
Hokage = Sarutobi
Sarutobi knew about Naruto being Minato's son and Minato being Kakashi's sensei ...

Mabye Sarutobi asked Kakashi to become Naruto's sensei?
