[Discussion] Mihawk>Shanks?

Is Hawk Eye Mihawk stronger than Red Haired Shanks? Many people say Shanks being a Yonko and the aura he emits is probably among the strongest characters at the moment. However, we've seen Shanks use a sword, classifying him a swordsman. Now the most powerful swordsman is Hawkeye. Does that imply Hawkeye>Red Hair?

Either Shanks doesn't rely much on swordsmanship, implying he has another fighting style. Then Mihawk being the WSS means nothing to him. Shanks is also a Yonko, implying that he must be admiral level. He has clashed with WB and Akainu. Mihawk has yet to face off against someone who is admiral level.

On the other hand, if Shanks is a pure swordsman, he has to be below Mihawk, Haki or no Haki, since Mihawk is the confirmed WSS.Now if Shanks is a swordsman, then surely his skills have taken a hit since he lost an arm. But it has been mentioned that Shanks skills were not affected in any way by losing an arm.

Shanks and Mihawk clashed several times in their younger days, but not since Shanks lost an arm. Mihawk mentioned he lost interest since then. But when Mihawk used that air slash against WB, he stated he wanted to see the difference between himself and 'that man,' implying WB was stronger? However I think most Yonko should be able to take down old WB or atleast stalemate him.

I dont think Shanks uses just swords. But if he does, then that would mean that Mihawk is stronger than Shanks. And if Mihawk is stronger than shanks, then Zoro is at Shanks level or above it O_O

Even though zoro trained with mihawk he is still nowhere near mihawks level because its just the start of the new world so he wouldn't be as powerful as the person he's trying to beat

Sorry but no ,there is no logic that suggests that Emperor > Warlord

Mihawk can probably beat any Emperor in a one on one battle exept Shanks.....

Mihawk doesn't have a crew lol and the Yonko all own territories in the new world, Mihawk is Yonko level he is just a lone wolf he just wants to sail around the seas in his coffin ship, and the world government to leave him alone. I hardly even consider him a pirate he doesn't have the mentality he's just a dude who sails around being a badass.
It's likely him and Shanks are like Zoro and Luffy lol very small difference in strength.

What's the point? Shanks is undisputedly strong and he came with his crew. The Marines had already achieved their objective. No reason for further bloodshed.

To me Shanks seems like one of those pirates who uses everything in his fights such as legs, his one arm. Shanks probably prefers using a sword like Rayleigh however he can use his legs and arm when it comes to punching and kicking to.

Mihawk is probably better than Shanks with a sword however overall Shanks is most likely a better fighter.

I don't think either Shanks is a swordsman, maybe he does use swords but i guess he has some sly tricks up his sleeve which he relies more on than the rest

Rayleigh seems to be a swordsman. He used swordsmanship in his only serious fight - to hold off Borsalino. His sword isn't special.

Mihawk is just a shichibukai because he has no interest in the One Piece, he doesnt even have a crew... You need a crew to be a yonko

shanks and rayleigh arent just swordsmen though they are more modeled after a generic pirate, and a generic pirate has a normal sword for close quarters then maybe a pistol too, just cuz they use swords doesnt mean they are dedicated swordsmen

Really can't say about Shanks, about Rayleigh is most likely a swordsman. When fighting an admiral, I'm sure anyone would resort to their strongest fighting style. Swordsmanship seems to be Rayleigh's. The act that he says it's been a long time since he used his sword indicates that he didn't fight anyone who was worth using his sword against.
