I don't hate or dislike him but I do find him boring. His character is too generic and doesn't appeal to me. u_u

Because it's too mainstream to like the main protagonist.

OT: Or maybe because he uses the same justu again and again. Then again, nobody bashes other characters who rely on (primarily) one technique. He gets the most stick for it because he's the main protagonist. The Rasengan has become the new Kamehameha.
lol..point noted.

People side with the main character on almost every thing and say he/she > everyone. This anime is different though, he lost to the second main character.
Still people deny it and make excuses. The main character is the most annoying.

i dont think all of people in NB dislike naruto but i agree that some people in NB dislike naruto which are mostly sasuke fanboys who hate to see that naruto surpassed sasuke .........in my opinion naruto's character is awful as he didnt gave up in whole series ...........

Yeah i think Sasuke is an awesome character and u can like him or naruto without hating on either. That seems too much to ask for, at the moment.

I think his whole "savior" thing took over his character for awhile. He kinda went through this phase where his actions and thoughts were just too 'perfect' and uniform, quite the opposite of the good hearted kid with the unwavering will from part 1. It was less of a character development, and more like a detour. It's like his character got "autopiloted" by this generic savior paradigm for a bit, and turned people away from being able to relate to Naruto.

With the recent manga chapters though, I think his original character traits are coming back.

And why exactly do you find him annoying? Because he is the main character and the story revolves around him? Clarify your point please.

OT: I think the main problem people have with Naruto's personality is that it's the same personality for all Shonen Jump protagonists. Goku, Luffy, Natsu, Yoh, Naruto. All of them are of low to average intelligence who are experts in thinking on their feet during battles and alway stay on the righteous path no matter what. The Saviour architype is not the only architype a protagonist should have.

There is the reluctant hero: guys who don't want to accept the saviour role in the begining but grow into it and eventually except their role
The Anit-hero: Think Death Note's Light Yagami
The Brooding Hero: Hero's like Batman and Angel

That's to name a few. Shonen manga don't stray outside the loveable, dumb, talk you out of anything or beat you sensless Architype. It's been seen so much that readers/watchers tend to shy away from the hero in favor of a character that seems more based in reality. No 2 heroes are the same. And the only difference the Shonen heroes have are their powers and looks.

That's what I've gathered at least. Hope that sheds some light on your inquery. :bye:

Because Kishimoto wills so.
Everyone is supposed to like Sasuke as the real main character, Naruto is just a side kick!

I don't like his fans, but I also don't like his character personality.

Fans are annoying because they clearly know that everything he does is fake and plot based.

I hate his personality because I just don't like the little faces and stuff, especially while in the war. You can say its Kishi's fault but Kishi made him so 50/50.
Which is also why I favor sasuke over him.

No, because he thinks he can always sway people's opinions with words. You need to realize in the REAL world, there's evil and sick people out there and words won't always change their twisted mindset. Yet he tries to talk it out all the time, and it get too predictable. Plus it's always Rasen-(Insert name here), he needs to use more wind nature based jutsu like Danzo and his are bullets. This is just my personal opinion though.

ok.if i may ask, what would you have him do instead?
Stop being a stereotypical protagonist, you know like love eating food, being goofy, treasuring his friends above all [At least tone it down, Kishi kinda stuffs his bond with Sasuke down our throats], etc. etc. Oh and perhaps be more realistic towards his view regarding peace.

That's just me tho'.

I hate the Uchiha's but I will be honest with you. Saskue would have made a much better main protagonist then Naruto. His background is far more shinobi than Naruto's background.

Yeah it did. But i believe there are other different mangas with different protagonist twists and that kinda balances itself out wouldnt you agree?

He's my fourth or fifth favorite character but I can find him exceptionally annoying at times

Everyone else with a tragic back-story (Jinchuriki, Uchiha, missing-nin, ect.) faced situations similar to Naruto and gave up on idealism and betrayed their village. Naruto doesn't. Why?

Naruto just forgives the village after making his childhood a living hell. This could have been averted easily. Have Naruto fight to defend his comrades in the village, not everyone including the hateful bigots. Then when Naruto does get acknowledgment and someone wants his autograph, he should have punched them in the face. These hateful bigots ignored him or physiologically tortured him. that should not be easily forgiven. It creates the "moral" that you can abuse something and it will stay loyal to you and defend you.

His fighting style is not versatile

He's not an underdog. He's the son of a Hokage, an Uzimaki, has a god sealed inside of him, is the child of prophecy, and might become the god

He believes he can tnj anyone. This idealism is really annoying. What's more annoying is that it works. Seriously, how can Naruto change someone's values in a single sitting when their own master failed to change them?

None of the above problems are deconstructed. Everyone praises him

With all that it may seem I hate Naruto. I don't. He has many redeeming qualities. I wouldn't be on a fansite if I hated hte main character, but I do see flaws in his character

I don't hate him, but I don't find him interesting either.

this is good summary of how I feel about him at times. I genuinely like but he can get uninteresting at times.
