[Discussion] Why so popular?

Look, I like Attack On Titan and am updated with it, its a decent series but I don't understand why its popularity sky rocketed like it did. I mean, it was announced that the series recently had gotten more popular then One Piece which was the most popular series to this point.

So why do you think it's so popular?

It's because of its animation and its unique plot .

Because no one can appreciate an actually well thought out and developed plot and only care for blood, death, and fight scenes. I personally am not a huge fan :/

Because it's quite a recent anime/manga in comparison to others, and it's the first really good one in a while No fanservice or bullshit like that. It's just mainly, non stop action.

Characters have to die for it to be a good manga? Back to my first point. Plus, look at how many people have died in Naruto. This girl I swear

Its popular since it shows lots of death and dying. Most animes don't do that like (dragonball, they all get revived). In snk, almost everyone dies a horrible death

Anyway, it's because of it's suspense. The threat is real, so it keeps us on our toes. There's also some questions left to be answered.

I am wondering how it has gotten so populor to the point of being more well known then OP which has over 600 episodes and 700 manga chapter's when attack on titan has only about 20+ episodes it's over hyped if you ask me although a decent show.
