[Discussion] Has Luffy surpassed Ace?

Ace left to become a pirate when he turned 17, same as Luffy. He died at 20, and it's been roughly three years from when Luffy started as a pirate as well. So at this point, do you think Luffy has surpassed Ace in power? Luffy with his Gomu Gomu no mi always lost to Ace, and that was before he had the Mera Mera no mi, so there was undoubtedly a huge gap in power. After his two years of training, I feel Luffy may have passed where Ace was before he was killed (Ace would still be stronger if he were alive.) He seems to have mastered haoshoku haki, along with the other two forms, not sure if Ace had full control over his haoshoku or was as proficient in the others by the time of his death. Who do you think would win, current Luffy vs Marineford Ace at full health?

I believe so. Many people don't think so because they base their opinion on what they've seen. Keep in mind the hardest Luffy's fought was against Chinjao in which he took only one G3 attack to beat.

Luffy hasn't gone all out.

I think his next bounty will be the same as his contestant number : 556 million beris

I know he's 19, but the trek through the first half of Grand Line took almost a year, or atleast that's what I've heard. He's closing in on 20 which is why I said roughly three years. But yea, I think now if he hasn't surpassed him, it'd be the closest they ever were for sure. Would be a damn good fight.

Yea, he took out a legend with a higher bounty than Ace in one blow, so no telling where his max power is now. Even if Chinjao has weakened over age, I feel like how easily he managed to do it Luffy hasn't even begun to show how strong he is. I think he takes this, but it's still damn close.

EDIT: Correction, Ace's bounty was 550, I don't know why I was thinking it was 450.

I agree ace is still stronger than luffy,the only reason ace had to die is because of plot divice and ace bounty is way more than luffy's
and ace also had the best potential.

Exactly. The only fight since the TS where Luffy actually did go all out was against Hody. But after 1 G3 attack he won. He decided to go and destroy Hody. Hody was on a fourth compound overdose. On his third he surpassed Jinbe temporarily. Jinbe has a bounty higher than Luffy's current one.

No it isn't. It's not been confirmed but we know it was over 500 million. It could be 700 million for all we know... But realistically we're looking at 500 million to 599 million.

Haoshoku haki wouldn't affect the current Luffy unless it was someone like Shanks. Even then it would make him feel light headed and nothing more.

Ace never showed use of Busoshoku or Kenbushoku and i'm not going to give him powers which as far as we know : he either doesn't have or has very weak haki. He won't be able to burn Luffy as long as he uses Busoshoku because he seems to be heat resistant when he does use it.

There may be no point in surpassing someone who can't progress, yea that's true. We don't know how Ace would turn out if he were alive. But, he's dead, Luffy WILL surpass him, if he hasn't already. That is a fact, unless Luffy dies too, it is a guarantee.

I'm gonna have to say this we will never know what ace full Potential was because he died too soon,at marine ford arc
he could fight onpar with Akoji, bear in mind he had not eat for god knows how many days,and the Akainu thing wasn't really a fight he only tried to protect his little bro,i think full healty ace is atleast or onpar with admiral level

Aces elemental superiority is the only reason Kuzan didn't stomp him. Kuzan was pretty much equal to Sakazuki who one shotted Ace.

In a prison: you get food unless you were on level 3,4,5. Level 6 was the punishment of eternal boredom and for that they'd keep you alive.

Actually he tried to protect Luffy afterwards. Akainu sent Ace flying with one move.
