verb (used without object)

to let go a hold.

As you can see, since we are using an estimated fiscal figure and not something actually tangible, this "2 billion dollars" can have a non-object verb alongside it and still be correct. But hey, this is English, the hardest language in the world for so many technicalities. Not too many people know the "special cases". ;)
1. You clearly misspelled losing and you're just trying to save face

2. No credible dictionary has the word loosing in it

I guess my senior-university-level English class and a Merriam-Webster dictionary is just dust in the wind compared to the unsubstantiated musings of an adolescent :( Yes, I admit it, I just got trumped :(

The last time this happened was back in 95. For 5 days and then 21 days. Government employees will be forced to take furlough, meaning they don't get paid. It's mostly Federal Government employees. Not so sure about State Governments.

To sum it up, Congress has to come up with a bill to spend money to fund the Government. If not, than most of the non essential government stops because they aren't funded for the next fiscal year. What's keeping the spending bills from being passed is that the Republicans insist on that the spending bill include "anti-Obamacare" things. The Democrats want the exact opposite. "Obamacare" is unpopular but and is not liked by a lot of republicans so much that they are using it as a bargaining chip.

We are using money, it's a thing... Estimated fiscal figure smh... Grammar doesn't give a damn about that. You can't say "loosing 2 billions"... It's losing. We all make mistakes. Admit it and move on.

Most of you have no idea what you are talking about for one. Obama Care is in affect already you can actually apply for It right now. Not placing blame but Republicans need to get their shit together and get on track that is why It's been shut down. Also Food inspections are being shut down, all except for Meat. Museums, Landmarks, Zoo's, National Parks and all that are shut down as well. Also The Board of Veterans Appeals will stop issuing rulings, meaning decisions about some disability claims by veterans will wait even longer than usual. Disability and pension payments may be interrupted. New patients won't be accepted into clinical research at the National Institutes of Health, Most routine food inspections by the Food and Drug Administration will be suspended. About half the Defense Department's civilian employees will be furloughed. ( dats me) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, known as WIC, could shut down as well so really that's all there is too it.

Second, If you aren't employed by the federal government or if any of these things don't effect you. Then please keep your mouth shut and go about your life. This don't effect you that much, and won't unless It lasts for months. BTW It has already been shut down .-.

Stop being ignorant, It affects lots of people, it affects places that are funded by the government including daycare my parents and a lot of her friends got laid off as well, she works at headstart program. If you don't know its basically babies, pre-K, & Kindergarten blah blah. However, parents don't know what to do and have to lose work hours which is pretty horrible because a lot of people where I live at live check by check to pay bills and have a steady budget on food so one thing like this can throw a family into bankruptcy. Where my parents work there are 1200 kids that go there and have no where to go for daycare assistance. Also, states could potentially lose a lot money if this lasts for awhile due to tourism being cut since like you clearly said closed national parks, along with museums, statue of liberty etc.

Glad too see you guys are not placing blame on a figurehead president, like Mr. Obama. He really has no power, as congress makes the decisions.

National parks and the like are nothing to fund.

The other programs you mentioned are things that need to be cut from our budget, anyway. The Federal Government has no business providing money to the states (in fact, that is strictly forbidden within the Constitution. The people responsible for that precedent and allowing it to continue should be hung for treason). Nor should it ever be allowed to directly pay individual citizens who are not specifically bound by an employment contract. It should not be involved in education.

Honestly, I think it's too late to save our country. We're doomed to the fate of Rome - our last chance at stopping that went by some three years ago.

I do like, however, that this issue has exposed the true mindset of many on Capitol Hill. They honestly think that the country (and quite possibly the world) revolves around them - that everything will simply stop if the 'government' isn't actively involved in it.

Nothing could be further from the truth. While there are areas that will be impacted - that really only forces the discussion of whether or not the government should be involved in those areas, anyway.

After all - what would happen if, right now, a nuclear bomb were to go off over DC and wipe out multiple layers of our government and its secession contingencies?

Or if, decades down the line, some group of people gain influence and control over the government that that has a hold on the programs and institutions we see most greatly impacted by this shut-down... if government has become -that- central to our ability to survive... then how can we possibly be a country of and by the people?

If an argument can effectively hold the nation hostage ... then why can't a cabal of neo-Nazis, black panthers, or some other group of usurpers?

And these are the same people that want to take firearms out of society.

We, like every other generation, live in interesting times.
