Only the Hokages and Kakashi seems to know it so I thought you have to be really special to know it.

Imagine if Naruto has 100 percent chakra and he does 5 clones. That would mean that his chakra is divided by 32 which will leave him with only 3 percent. Now, let alone 1000 clones. So, it does not half your chakra

Your math is flawed but it would depend on how much chakra you have. So its possible for one person's 5% to be significantly greater than another persons 5%.

Because Tajuu means "multi" or "multiple" which means your chakra is split into many equal parts, which for anyone other than an uzumaki or senju, pretty much equals death.

Tajuu Kage Bunshin itself doesn't kill the user. It's just that when you use the jutsu, depending on the number of clones you create, you would be too close to 0 in chakra, that if you've no stamina left, you could effortlessly die if you produce chakra again. It could also be a waste of chakra depending on how you use the clones because since the chakra is so widely dispierced, after they are destroyed, with the limited chakra you would have, you could barely do a thing in the battle

Truth:

You math is flawed. The technique splits you're chakra evenly. So your chakra is split depending on the total clones made.
1 clone=50% or 1/2 or one pool of chakra split for two people.
2 clones=33% or 1/3
3 clones=25
And so on and so on.
The problem with it is the tech is only effective if the clones have enough chakra to do something. It's pointless giving them 1/1000 th off your chakra if that's only enough to take 1 step b4 they poof. Now your left with .001 left in the tank.
