My feelings on this issue are mixed, as sometimes, it does get beyond irritating. On Topic: Other than Sasuke, I couldn't care less about this clan and the least about Konoha's lap-dog, Itachi and Shisui.

You know, for some one so "Ruthless and feared", I'd expect Hashirama, or one of the 5 kages, to have lost an arm, leg an eyeball or something anything....... but no.

Itachi may or may not be able to beat Minato, much less a KCM Minato along with Tobirama and Hiruzen,a nd finally, Orochimaru himself...... Orochimaru wipes the floor with Itachi

I remember reading somewhere that Sasuke weren't part of the initial plan, but I'm a bit confused as to why people are saying the Uchiha weren't going to be either? What was Kishi planning with Kakashi's eye?
In case it isn't obvious, I'm not very knowledgeable of Kishi's interviews or wherever these sources come from.
Edit: Oh I get it, Sasuke is supposedly the reason for that too. But is this fact or...(the bit about uchiha's implementation is due to Sasuke)?
OT: I'm not really a fan of the Uchiha Clan. Though my fave character is Itachi Uchiha.

So? Regardless of the author's original intent, Uchiha make this manga better. It would be boring without them.

That's subjective and it varies from person to person. You as a devout Uchiha fan will say that, but I prefer the Akatsuki ten fold. I thought they made the manga much better than the Uchiha's, but again; it varies from person to person.

Without Uchiha (Sasuke) this manga would be sh*t...People really wouldn't have a reason to read it. It would be full with inspirational quoets from childish main character.

of course, it's subjective if you like a character. let my make my point clear. Authorial intent is irrelevant. Whether the author wanted or was forced to create a character does not matter. what the author wanted a character to convey means nothing. In all media everything is in the eyes of the consumer. Kishimoto intended for Obito to be intimating. I don't find him intimidating. For me, Kishimoto's intent does not matter because I don't think Obito works a villain. For an Obito fan, it works but it doesn't work because of authorial intent. It works because the consumer choose to like that character.
If you're going to a debate a character, then consumers argue what their impressions on that character were in order to find the more valid opinions. However, what the author intended doesn't matter. Art lies in the eyes of the beholder, not the artist.
edit: I agree with you about the Akatsuki. They are several Akatsuki characters that are in my favorite character list (Sasori, Deidara, Konan and Kisame). Most Akatsuki are mote interesting than most Uchiha, though Sasuke still be my personal favorite

Well, they're are far greater and more interesting than that useless Clan call "Hyūga"....Sasuke is the only character that intereste me the most from this Clan though....the rest are too simple or too boring to the point they put me to sleep....
