Right. Would love to see some scans of that bolded claim... If I recall, they started seeing bright white feathers infront of their eyes and were starting to fall asleep, thus they realized it was genjutsu..
Edit: Be thankful , saved you the trouble of getting the scan

Btw, almost 100% Jiraya never said such a ludicrous thing
2) We all know how to stop a genjutsu, that's not the point, Not only can you not always DO that, Ask orochimaru, Raikage A and Deidara, but there are certain types of genjutsu where before you can break it , you have to first REALIZE you're in one....
3) Do you have any idea what plot is? Why didn't Nagato attack konoha when naruto was a child? Why didn't Obito slip back into the village and get naruto such a long time ago? There are MANY elements of this manga that make no sense, and its done because kishi has his own story in mind
Not even going to comment on the rest, its loaded with fallacious arguments
1. I remember there was some part in the manga where someone noticed their chakra was being messed with, I just don't recall where.
2. More experienced shinobi usually realize when they are in one one way or another, just ask Orochimaru, Ei, older Deidara, Kakashi, Gai, Danzo, etc. Then it's a matter of breaking it.
Genjutsu is a plot powered aspect that's typically used for shock value or a handwave, and especially why I don't even try to use it in arguments unless it's a super-genjutsu. Like I could go around saying "Kurenai Binding Tree GG" and if anyone disagrees, then I can just say "They don't have Sharingan to protect them." It's just as valid as any arguments Itachi fans make.
Genjutsu is not a rare ability, someone like Hanzo whom has fought many wars and is infamous everywhere would had encountered many genjutsu users in his lifetime, but if genjutsu were so hax then he would had died the first time he encountered one. The Senju clan were also capable of dominating a clan full of genjutsu users. How is that possible if genjutsu is so hax? Why are Kurenai and Shii not kages right now? In fact, why do ninjas bother to learn things like Raikiri or Edo Tensei instead of Genjutsu if it's so hax? There are actually quite a few powerful ninjas that have a high genjutsu skill yet they only use genjutsu maybe once in a blue moon. What are the logical reasons for that if the Narutoverse were real?
3. Exactly, the problem though is that you seem to forget that when it concerns Itachi.
That's a nice way of backing out.
Well you're free to do an analysis on an underrated character if you wish, and I'm free to do what I want.
The majority of your post didn't counter anything I said. It would just be a waste of time replying to it all, since it revolves around opinions, plot devices, etc. I already know how this is going to turn out. I'm pointing out Itachi's abilities, we're going to go down a path of discussing why he 'chose to do this and that'. In the below paragraph, I'm going to point out in the first sentence how this discussion should be.
The only legitimate mention I see is your claim of what Gai said, since that would actually be a FACT that shuts down a bit of my thread. You see the difference between that and the majority of your post? The majority of your posts isn't backed up by anything at all...in fact, the logic you displayed with 'the characters that should have hype threads are the underdogs', you suggest that some of these characters abilities are either overlooked or shunned due to plot. So, I would get manga scans, analyze those scans, and present it just like I did this thread?
Anyways, I'm going to look into what Gai said. And no, Jiraiya never said that. Also, I already know how one must stop genjutsu. That's not the point.
Edo Itachi didn't do any better? I didn't notice Edo Itachi was coughing up blood and had stamina problems. When comparing Itachi to other characters, most don't use Edo Itachi.
But why do you feel that a topic like this is necessary for Itachi?
The only part where I brought up Itachi's decisions were regarding his supposedly active participation in trying to work against Akatsuki. If Itachi were as OP as you perceive him to be, then he would had succeeded... he did not. This is a key element which completely disregards the apparent core premise of your argument. Sasuke also said that not even Itachi was powerful enough to assassinate the Uchiha clan by himself, Itachi also admits inferiority to Obito and claims equality with Jiraiya. These all give us an indication of how powerful Kishimoto has determined Itachi is, you can over analyze and embellish Itachi's impressive abilities if you'd like but it doesn't change his actual placement in the manga.
That's mighty kind of you to offer. I may attempt to take you up on that, but I typically have severe time restrictions due to my daily schedule. Otherwise my initial reply to you would had been more lengthy and planned out.
More skilled shinobi do notice the use of genjutsu and have shown to recognize it instantly, unless it's too subtle like when Sasuke tricked Danzo about his last eye. That and what Kakashi did against Zabuza were perhaps the most clever uses of genjutsu in the series.
I hadn't noticed a time when coughing up blood had hindered Itachi in battle, either stopping him from making a killing blow or leaving him vulnerable to attack. I also highly doubt it affected his stamina, Kimimaro needed a machine to stay alive and still had a 4.5 in chakra. If Itachi did have more chakra, it wasn't that much more.
They may as well be using Edo Itachi though since they use a fictional "healthy" Itachi whom has MS mastery but none of the drawbacks such as vision or health problems and can spam MS jutsus without backlash, which goes against established manga canon. People also fallaciously use Edo Itachi to reflect living Itachi as well.
Itachi prevented Obito from touching the village. Not sure why Nagato did not attack the village (but I think there was a reason).
Actually he didn't. Itachi made the deal with Obito thinking he was Madara whom had a grudge against the village, but Obito was only concerned about the Moon's Eye Plan. It was a sham deal. Obito even knew that Itachi was a double-agent, he was using Itachi to his own ends.
Obito teleporting in and snatching a baby Naruto would had probably been undetectable and is a plot hole, but it would had been a bad idea for Nagato to attack. Akatsuki was still a fledgling organization then, it's membership wasn't filled, they didn't have much money, and they needed to capture the Bijuu in order. If they were to make their move, it wouldn't be very prudent to attack Konoha head-on to get Kurama. That's just instigating a war they weren't yet prepared to fight.
