The main character himself represents hard work.
He represents the ideals of "peace", "overcoming disagreements" etc.
Compared to Lee; i don't think Naruto was much more or underdog.
Does Lee have a special blodline treat which grants great life force? Does he have a haxx monster inside of him which unleashes its power anytime he get pissed of; or merely lands power for being friends? İs Lee some kind of a destined child? No; Lee and Naruto are severely different in such aspect. How much time did it take Naruto to learn SM; a week, what Lee ever accomplished in a week? Didnt Naruto pulled out 1000 shodow clones in first chapter by a glance to a scroll; despite he did not even had skill enough for a single clone? These are few examples. Lee's affinity for gates should not be compared to all of these, since he lacks many and has one thing to barely cover all lacking things; while Naruto always had more over more; or merely had a chance to shortcuts.

That's just my opinion; but i don't believe Naruto carries the theme of hardwork, he has affinity for rather other themes. And is Naruto the only real "hardworker"? No, but appearantly only he can be strong.

Part 1 is good, I'd prefer part 2 for more moments and damn good characters. But, part 1 had quite a few things that the second part could of used... More traditional values. Teamwork, ninja tools, intelligence. Kishi went to flashy with the spammable and OP moves. While they are fun once in a while.. When every last character can pull them off, it takes away any fun from them. And then, even stronger techniques must be made...

Taijutsu and close quarter combat itself is gone. Which, I loved. Kimimaro for example had a delightfully fun way of fighting. As did Kabuto. Fighting styles such as Zabuza, Haku, Dosu, ETC are practically gone or are apparently useless against any shinobi with decent elemental control. Which irks me.

And, due to Kishi not expanding on several clans. They have inadvertantly become OP to those who know what to look for. He failed to give them any screen time and exploit strengths and weaknesses. Because, if anyone has noticed. The Hyuuga clan and Aburame are god damn OP! The Yamanka clan is too, to a lesser extent. But yeah... Kishi pondered too much on central themes and trying to get down everything he needs for certain characters instead of making extra arcs, or adding in new villains for the crew to face.

Honestly.. Everything can be traced back to Obito, Madara, Orochimaru, Danzo. FOUR people. The last person wasn't even given the proper time to fully flesh out his ways. Oh, and battles were more intense back in part 1. No one was safe, new things were coming out of everywhere. Not "OP" jutsu. But, new fighting styles that would be hazardous. The Sasuke Retrieval Arc is one of my favorite arcs for the sole reason that nearly everyone got time to shine and had a fight that seemed to be not going in their favor.

Part 2>=Part 1 based on the plot progression and added characters done correctly. But, detail, interesting idea's and lost concepts push part 1 higher then most give credit.

I prefer Part 1. Better writing.

But if you just like super duper powerful characters, then yeah, Part 2 is for you.

Because it was indeed way better.

Part one was more ninjaish which is the base of the series, the fights were about outsmarting and not busting mountains, the animation was way better and they traveled to a lot more places, thus making the story more appealing and less repeptitive or tedious.

I have said this multiple times, but usually the people that likes Shippuden over part 1 are kids, im not trying to be offensive, but kids usually have a tendency to like more the higher powerlevel of the characters and powerups stuff instead of the actual richness in the story and fighting mechanics.

The difference is maturity from part 1 to part 2. The animation has had its rough patches in part 2 but I still think part 2 is better than part 1 overall for the purpose and morals of it.

it's alot like the Dragonball series

in DB, it was all about martial arts, tactics and techniques with the occassional ki blast. DBZ was some martial arts with heavier empathasis on power levels and ki blast; and by the Cell Saga an almost entire emphasis on ki attacks. Just look at the difference between Cell's fight with Goku and Cell's fight with Gohan; making Gohan the lead was the start of the shift. And by DBGT it was all ki blast and 'what is martial arts?'

Naruto is trending the same. Started out all about the techniques, strategy and maintaining the mysticque of your techniques

Naruto Part II seem to become all about the power-ups in a DBZ kinda way. Shot shot techniques. No longer dealing with strategy, martial arts and all about the overpowered jutsus and tailed beast power.

You're not going to see a compelling ninja fight like what we saw with Kakashi & Zabuza anymore. It's no longer ninja but how god-like in power are you

Part 1 shippuden and Part 1 Naruto was way better because it was based on ninja principles and every one had a part in the series. Everyone sort of developed together and every one's stories had deep rooted back grounds. Part 2 of shippuuden (Everything past Pain being beaten) has gone from ninja like to DBZ. Until now we are at DBZ level. I have not seen a hand sign being used to perform offensive jutsu in almost 200 chapters. They might as well be screaming and eating sensoo beans when they power up

F*ck that. Part 2 takes a HUGE dump on Part 1. Whether its the storyline, or the symbolism or hell the characters.

In part 1 if you were Itachi, ain't no niqqa was beating you...
