Were Itachi and Kisame real friends ?

It would have been cool if Kisame was revived by Edo Tensei and when Itachi reaches Kabuto's cave , he is confronted by Edo Kisame and than both of them fight and the fight ends with Itachi sealing Kisame with the Totsuka Sword and Kisame says that they should fight again in the Afterlife .

Well; at their times of partnership; they had no one closer themselves other than each other. Even if they were not "friends"; they had sense of mutual respect; as far as "feelings" go; it is hard to say... But; sense of comradeship is preferable to sense of loneliness; even they are in minor extends. Also; someone would not think of someone who is not important to him/her in the dying moments.

Kisame wasn't reliable but was always cautious of Itachi's power and respected it...
Itachi didn't care about it, he just remained his team member...

But, the fact is... as a team they were perfect...

Kisame's life was hard and full of lies. Kisame couldrelate to Itachi but Itachi had a good out look on life and wisdom that he would tell Kisame. They both had mad respect for each other and Kisame probably thought of him as more than just a friend but a best and only friend(other than samehada =D)

funny thing is Itachi is a huge liar and was their to spy lol. A cool scenario kishi could have done was Akatsuki finds out Itachi is a spy and Kisame is ordered to kill him....I think Kisame would join Itachi's side or at least sheda tear after he killed him

Kisame definitely respected Itachi and viewed him as a friend.
Itachi, I think, respected Kisame. Kisame, at his core, is not a bad person, and I think Itachi knew that.

Both Itachi and Kisame were partners and they respected each other .
Even though Itachi was a spy , he din't seem to hate Kisame . When Itachi died , Kisame was really depressed about his death until Obito revealed himself to him . Before Kisame died , he thought of Itachi and their first meeting .

Not at all, Kisame only respected Itachi's Power and thought they were similar because hey both killed their kinsmen. Kisame sees nothing in the world but lies.

Also the last memory Kisame had of Itachi showed that Kisame threated Itachi to watch out for him and it shows Itachi MS activated.

They may not be the best of friends but they sure didn't hate eachother. They had been on the same team for a long while so it would be pretty hard to go through missions, traveling together all that time and not have some type of feelings for each other.

Kisame even if he didnt like him knew that fighting itachi would probably be the death of him and for a man like kisame thats enough since theres very few people he cant beat.
