Chapter 7: Spiraling Pattern
In the middle of their trip to the southern region of the Fire Country, located right before the border between the Fire Country and the Land of Rivers and nearby the ocean, Team 7 was attacked, out of nowhere, by two mysterious ninjas who were waiting for them with an ambush already planned. However, Naruto defeated both enemies in a flash, giving them no chance to harm his team…
Naruto: Two down…
Yuurei was lying down, unconscious, in a small crater, after being defeated by Naruto Uzumaki. In the other hand, Yuurei’s partner, Bakemono, was sent flying into the surrounding woods after being hit by Naruto’s powerful right hook.
Isamu: Sensei, who are they?!
Isamu was looking at the man with a black robe, long enough to cover his whole body leaving only visible his head and feet, and a mask covering his mouth and cheeks, leaving his eyes uncovered. However, there was something about Yuurei bothering Isamu which lead him to ask his sensei about Yuurei and Bakemono’s identity.
Akemi (thinking): Where are they from?!
Naruto: I have no idea! That headband…
Wrapped around Yuurei’s forehead was a strange headband Naruto had never seen in his life. A black short cloth band with a metal plate attached to it, that was Yuurei’s headband, but, the mystery lied in what was carved in the headband’s metal plate.
Makoto (thinking): What’s with that pattern?!
Carved in the metal plate of Yuurei’s headband, which was placed on his forehead, being slightly covered by his medium sized wavy brown hair, was a spiraling pattern Naruto couldn’t relate to any known village’s symbol.
Akemi: We studied all the village’s symbols, at the academy… The ones who belong to the Five Hidden Villages of the Shinobi Ninja Alliance and some more, like the Hidden Sound Village’s symbol…
Akemi: And yet… We were never shown this symbol…
Having no clue on about their attackers’ origin and identity or whatsoever, Naruto resorted to his closest friend inside his own mind, Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox. There wasn’t anyone else with more knowledge than a Tailed Beast, since they are older than any human being to the point of knowing the Sage of Six Paths himself.
Naruto (in thoughts): Kurama, do you know who these guys are?
Kurama: That’s what’s intriguing me as well!!!
Naruto (in thoughts): What do you mean?!
Kurama: Not even I know which village they belong to… Plus…
Naruto (in thoughts): What is it?
Kurama: Those techniques they used… I’ve never seen such…
Naruto (in thoughts): Kurama… I have no idea of what to do! Should we get back?!
Kurama: Perhaps… But, there’s also the chance of encountering more of them if we keep going forward! At that time, we could capture one and bring him to the village for questioning!
Naruto (in thoughts): I see… Still, I’ll have a toad from Mount Myōboku to swallow this one’s body and deliver it to Granny Tsunade.
Kurama: Nicely thought… However, why not sent two bodies instead of one?
Naruto (in thoughts): What do you mean?
Kurama: Don’t tell me you already forgot there were two of them…
Naruto (in thoughts): Oh, yeah, right… That other one…
Kurama: You forgot didn’t you? I’m not even going to ask how that is even possible… Idiot…
Naruto: Yosh! Akemi, Makoto, Isamu, go get the other one’s body!
Akemi: Uh?! What are you going to do?!
Naruto: Mail some corpses…
Isamu (thinking): That sounded creepy in so many ways…
Doing as their sensei told them, Team 7’s genin left Naruto’s side to get Bakemono’s body, which was somewhere in the woods that surround the road in which they were traveling…
Naruto: Summoning Jutsu
Placing his right hand on the ground, Naruto summoned a small orange toad. He then ordered the toad to swallow Yuurei’s body.
Isamu: Where the heck is that body?
Makoto: It should be around here…
In the woods, the young trio was still looking for Bakemono’s dead body as their sensei had told them to do.
Akemi: Found it!
Akemi was standing right before a dead person wearing a black robe similar to Yuurei’s and the same headband as well… His hair was short and of a dark blue color, making it possible to see the spiraling pattern in the headband’s metal plate very clearly.
Isamu: Let’s just take his body to sensei now…
Makoto: Yeah…

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Land of Rivers, near the border of this land and the Wind Country, the team sent by the Hidden Sand had already reached their destination. The same as the Fire Country, there were reports of possible military action at the southern region of the country, being this the reason why both villages, Hidden Leaf and Sand, sent recon teams headed at such location.
Sand Jounin: Captain, what do we do now? Can we take them all?
Temari: There are seven of them and four of us…
Standing alongside the Hidden Sand’s ninja was Temari; the Fifth’s Kazekage’s older sister and, currently, one of the most powerful Jounin the Hidden Sand has. Temari’s looks remained the same regarding her haircut, but, Temari’s cloth was different now... She wears a black dress, which covers her whole torso and her thighs, leaving her knees and shins uncovered. The dress had a small cleavage and a red cloth band around her waist serving as a belt; Temari still carries her huge fan at her back.
Temari: What do you think, Shikamaru? Can we take them?
Standing at Temari’s left side; Shikamaru Nara was in his thinking pose with his hands making that weird gesture he usually makes when planning a strategy. Shikamaru’s wardrobe didn’t change at all, except he now wears a Jounin outfit instead of a Chuunin one, although no one can tell the difference between the two outfits.
Shikamaru: Hold on a sec…
Temari (thinking): He’s planning something! I’ll give him some time!
???: We’ll take them! Sensei’s here, so it’s alright!
Behind Shikamaru, a young, eighteen years-old man with brown eyes, short, black spiky hair wearing a Chuunin uniform with its sleeves rolled up half way, was standing, impatient to hear Shikamaru’s plan. The boy was the spitting image of his father, carrying his black bangles on his wrists and his Hidden Leaf headband on his forehead.
Shikamaru: What a drag…
Shikamaru was still in his thinking pose, with his fingers together creating a circle and his eyes closed, although being somewhat distracted by his student, he still managed to think of a plan.
Shikamaru: Alright, I have a plan! We’ll divide our team for a two-front strategy!
Temari: Spit it out already, Shikamaru.
Shikamaru: One of us will leave this place to inform the Hidden Sand about the reports being true and we are being confronted by shinobi. The other three will fight those six.
Temari: Alright! You, you go and inform Gaara about this! Shikamaru, Asuma and I will face these bastards.
Temari was talking to the Hidden Sand Jounin while Asuma Sarutobi, the son of Kurenai Yūhi and Asuma Sarutobi, named after the latter, stepped forward to Shikamaru’s, his sensei, side, ready to fight alongside him and his wife, Temari.
Sand Jounin: Understood, Captain Temari!
Asuma: Let’s go then! Sensei, Temari-san!
Temari: Just don’t get hurt…
Asuma: I won’t, heh!
Temari: I was talking to my lazy husband.
Shikamaru: Pfft… Let’s go!
Shikamaru’s two-front strategy is set in action, while the Sand Jounin heads towards the village, Shikamaru, his wife and his disciple engage the enemy with their full might.

Naruto: Now go to Granny Tsunade! Hurry!
The small toad Naruto had summoned finished swallowing the bodies and was now ordered to take them to Tsunade Senju, the Fifth Hokage.
Naruto (thinking): Granny will be able to extract info about their techniques from their bodies. I know it!
A puff of smoke appeared in front of Naruto, the small toad vanished, obeying Naruto’s request.
Akemi: Dad, what do we do now?
Naruto: Kurama says to keep going forward, so that’s what we’ll do! We’ll go that place we were assigned to go!
Makoto (whispering to Akemi): Who’s Kurama?
Akemi (whispering): It’s the Nine-Tails, the Tailed Beast sealed inside my father.
Isamu (whispering): Tailed Beast?!
Akemi: You know what it is; we studied it back at the academy!
Isamu: I know, I know! Let’s go!
Akemi (thinking): He totally forgot about it…
Makoto (thinking): Heh… That Isamu…
Since the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War, the Shinobi Alliance was made permanent and with it, new sets of rules and measures were made by the Five Kage. These measures and rules have but one purpose, to ensure peace and improvement of the villages. One of the measures consisted of upgrading the Ninja Academy system towards a better teaching method and to make its students more aware of the outside world. So, all the five Hidden Villages agree to share everything they knew, all their knowledge with each other and having all of it being taught to the new generations at the academy. Thus being this the reason why Akemi and her friends already are aware of the existence of the Tailed Beasts.
Naruto (in thoughts): Kurama, there’s something bothering me!
Kurama: You noticed as well, uh…
Naruto (in thoughts): Those guys were so weak… Did they actually think they could take on a Leaf Jounin?!
Kurama: They were meant to slow you down, Naruto.
Naruto (in thoughts): I see…
Kurama: Which means you’re on to something!
Isamu: Sensei, I’m really curious about those toads you summoned! What are they?
Naruto: Uh? Yosh, I’ll tell you about them as we walk!
Makoto: Awesome, I also wanted to know what they are!
Akemi: They’re his summonings, right, Dad?
Naruto: Yeah… But there's more!
Isamu: Please tell us everything, sensei!

Shikamaru: What are those techniques?!
Temari: I never saw them before!
Still fighting against the six enemies, Temari, Shikamaru and Asuma, were shocked with their foes’ techniques as they had never seen them before.
Asuma: Plus, they’re all wearing the same outfit! Is this some sort of organization?!
Shikamaru: No, it’s a village!
Temari: Uh?!
Shikamaru: They all have that strange headband! I don’t know where they’re from, but they all belong to the same village, if it’s even a village…
The six members of the group facing Shikamaru and his team were all wearing the same black long robe Yuurei and Bakemono were. And, on their heads, again, the strange spiraling pattern carved into the metal plate of their headbands. Their faces were all covered by masks that left only their eyes visible.
Temari: If it is a village, I have no idea which one it is! I don’t recognize that symbol at all! Do you? As the commander of the alliance’s Intel Division, you know more than we do.
Shikamaru: I have no idea! We are aware of the majority of the villages existing in this world… But we never came across a village with that symbol.
Asuma: They’re coming!
Shikamaru, Temari and Asuma face the six mysterious ninjas all by themselves! Will they win?! These ninjas, who exactly are they?!
