Those two scans above clearly show the coffin jutsu taking its time to totally cover the enemy. In that time yamato can easily emit wood from his body and free himself. We already saw how by massive size can break the coffin when we saw gamabunta break it. The coffin isnt holding together against massive mukoton.

freeing him from the sand doom or better yet the clone isnt even necessary since yamato can perform the jutsu himself. Mukoton is also a counter to the sand burial since he can easily sprint up wood from beneath him and free himself. He has too many counters to the sand burial honestly.

I'd say Gaara has more stamina and is generally more skilled. Yamato got took down a peg even by Hebi Sasuke but Gaara was able to deflect MS Sasuke's Amaterasu, which is near instant. Yamato hasn't got anything which can penetrate Gaara's sand defences.

Not forgetting that Yamato's Mokuton is a cheaper and far more pliable version of the original, which means Gaara's dense sand should make it break under the pressure.

Honestly I never gave yamato a second thought, but since PC made these matchups and considering his moveset, Yamato is actually pretty strong :/

Bruh, yamato isn't a jounin, he's anbu :| Know who else was anbu? Itachi and kakashi. Know who was voted for next hokage? Kakashi. Know who was put as leader of team 7 in kakashi's place? Yamato. See where this is going?

Just because he doesn't have Kage title, akatsuki title, sannin title, doesn't mean he's not S-Class. Naruto and Sasuke are two ****ing S-Class genin. Kakashi is an S-Class shinobi :|

Idk about this... Yamato is technically a Senju because of all the experimentation... Gaara needed to have his chakra replenished by a senju (tsunade), who also replenished Oonoki twice, and mei once.

Okay then, but Gaara still takes this even if it's just by outlasting him but my bet is that the density and flexibilty of the sand takes this.

Back during Naruto's training, Yamato used one Douton, one Suiton and one Mokuton for a period of time and was pretty beat at the end. Gaara scores a 5 in the databook with Yamato a 3.5, and although the Databook isn't perfect rolleyes, it can be used as a rough indicator.
