wait, do all Yonkou search for OP? i mean, i doubt Whitebeard was searching for it, and Shanks knows were it is and Big Mam seems to be eating food and that's all, and we don't know what Kaidou's goal is and Teach most likely wants OP

Pretty much any pirate aims one way or another for OP, even if it's not always clear. WB admitted he was not so much interested in finding OP, but even his own crew thought of making him the Pirate King. Do you think Big Mum or Kaidou would let the chance slide to get OP if they knew where it was? People like Luffy have been aiming for it straight ahead, but someone like Kaidou has been a pirate for a way longer time, even if they want OP, they by now have placed on something for the long term and focused more on the here and now.

I mean even Crocodile aimed for the OP at some point, but lost his way more or less. Shanks is a bit of an exception as he was part of Roger's crew.

It's never been stated that the Yonkou had predecessors its true. But it's also never been stated that they didn't.
Chinjao simply meant that: to be the pirate king you must be the strongest man upon the seas , the most accomplished and reputable.

To do that now would require taking down the Yonkou and be able to defeat any admiral that comes his way.

What I mean is that the Yonkou aren't some official positions, for the same money there are 6 Yonkou or none at all. It's something people started calling them because of their power. Yes there might have been predecessors, but there is nothing that indicates that it's something that's by default there and has to be overcome.

Pretty much. The Yonkou is just a name used to refer to a group of people. ( in this case the four pirates which pose the largest threat to the world government.

I still say he will have to defeat the four Yonkou. Luffy said he will defeat all four and it will prove he is worthy of pirate king. And if you can beat a Yonkou in a 1v1 you can beat an admiral.

Since the straw hats are basically replicating the journey of the Roger pirates I can see Roger gaining the feat of defeating every admiral during his career as a pirate.
