We've won wars, we've thrived more than any other country has.. If you lived here you would be thinking differently - this country is fantastic, but the media makes it out to be some terrible place. This country is very laughable, especially when we're watching are favorite comedy.

See, I'm not too sure about that. Our society is preposterous, our government is large, but we also have many privileges that people in other countries don't. There are things I'm proud of, and then there are things that definitely disappoint me. Our military, certainly, is not "laughable." But at least you'd die with a smile on your face. :|

OT: That is sad. It's part of the media. I have noticed more and more that the media usually reports on stupid things like this to distract people. The government needs people to be stupid and mind-numb so they are easier to manipulate and so they make bad decisions. Then, they can swoop in and "fix" things, making people keep them in office. And what better way than the media to numb people's minds?

People are easily influenced in this country, and are purposely provided with an infinite amount of distractions to keep them from being keen on what their own government is getting itself involved in..... Why? There are lots of shit going on many different levels, Including, The CIA, Being involved with the rebels in syria, arming them. Propaganda that is basically Spewed out to people who don't know any better, in the form of news/ talkshows/ movies/ things like this. PUrsuade people to think that everything our gov does is for the right reason. BUt in reality most of them are shallow and have some other interests pulling the strings.

The media sites and even to some extent news shows make money off advertisement. And with market research they cover the "stories" where they can get the most viewers. So yes the media is at fault for not prioritizing their top stories from most relevant to least relevant. But to the general public, the things that gets people attention is beyond me. People are more interested in what other peoples statuses, who's tweeting what, what's trending. But that's not limited to just the U.S. A lot of this is also in other countries as well.

In some ways Miley Cirus at the VMA is like the U.S. Because when America does something, everyone pays attention. People on here would not even be discussing Syria until America got in the mix. When it comes to nations, America is a rock star.

Yes we are a country often looked at as fat and lazy, but that's only because we've prospered for so long that a lot of people become complacent.
