I just concluded the anime today and man i was disappointed with the ending that was complete rubbish how could near have outsmarted yagami like that? Must the good guys and the law always triumph? Why cant they me unpredictable and actually let the bad guy win? Waste of time.

I loved it.
Unpopular opinion: I liked the second part of Death Note just as much as the first. N was actually one of my favorites and I loved how he and Mello (to an extent) beat Kira.

Total fan service am dissapointed, is there a second part of death note? I was rooting for "light" and i loved his brilliance and her he was always a step above l and how he outsmarted and eventually killed him, now here comes the bs, suddenly a guy called near pops out of the blue and is supposed to be "l" successor and some how catches light in a short time? Thats f..... annoying.

near did great, only fanboys hate him lol

light was soo close, ryuk should have done something to help
Ryuk, couldnt do shit, and even aided in lights demise by killing him.

No actual second part. Sorry. I just meant the parts after L's death.
In the end, fan service rules the day and death note though brilliantly written is no exclusion, good must always defeat evil, so predictable the reason i fell in love with death note was because of yagami smartness and rivarly with "l" but mainly because of light, then "l" died okay that was acceptable, then yagami died i mean what the hell? What about the "new world" he was supposed to create? What about all those plans?

From the beginning we knew there was a 50/50 chance of him winning or losing. The series was great. Got average after L died, but it was still amazing. I too was disappointed in the end. I thought Ryuk would save Light. Oh well, still worth it IMO.

OT: I also love SAO, nice sig <3

If Light won, it may have made the creator seem a bit evil don't ya think? I mean a lot of people agreed with Light given the anime was a reality. A lot of people don't too though....

Thanks, im starting the anime this week along with hunter x hunter, i only hope that the fan service is reduced and its unpredictable. A more better scenarios which the write of death note failed too do, was the two parties kira meaning light dying along with near. That would have been more fitting as they neither caught light and light didnt win.

The "anime was a reality" what are you saying?:|

Am I the only one who hated Light?? He is such a hypocrite and crazy and I thought the author made it clear he had a serious superiority complex. OT after Ls death the serious did fall a bit and i didnt like Near so much. The ending could have been better

It was bitter sweet for me when L died as i was happy and please light outsmarted him and eventually put an end to him, but i was also sad just very little cause L had that charisma and was a good match for L as they both had history with each other, that near dude was pissing me off lol.

Light? Hypocrite? In which manga verse, cause i dont remember the straight "A" star student, champion tennis player and an individual who always taught rationally and annaylzed every single detail and who was very tactical in his decisions to be a hypocrite, much better than near that ocd striken kid. lol. Yeah the ending was a fail compared to what i expected which was light winning and creating his "new world" but meh its done its done. Damn ryuk.

He never did. It was a joint effort of Near and Mello that brought down Light. Near or Mello alone couldn't stand up to Light or L, but the two of them together were superior. Near said so himself.

He didn't. Light had a humongous head start over L. For pete's sake, he even had magic on his side. It was never a fair fight to begin with.

Yeah true about that. Despite that, L had the full force and power of the whole Japanese police to begin with, and his only task just to find kira[light yagami] a dorky teenager [at that time] using a notebook he accidentally discovered. light won against the so called "best detective in the world" with his powers of deceptions and mind games.

No, Light had 5 people from Japanese task force and neither of them were anywhere near the level L, Light, Near or Mello. They were just simple detectives. Hell, if it wasn't for his dumb luck, Light would have lost to Naomi Misora (Raye Penber's fiancee).

and his only task just to find kira[light yagami] a dorky teenager [at that time] using a notebook he accidentally discovered.
You're saying it like it was as easy as pissing on your finger. Light wasn't just some "dorky teenegar", he was easily one of the smartest humans in the world. A natural genius. L started from NOTHING and had to work against supernatural powers that he knew nothing about. Despite all that, he still cornered Kira and would have captured him if only he had more time. In fact, he knew Light was Kira from the very beginning, he just didn't have definite proof. At one point he obtained it, but then Light pulled that amnesia and "victim of the Kira" crap. That was a small setback and in the end L still found a way to prove that Light is Kira, but he ran out of time. You can't really say Light won, when the guy had two friggin gods of death on his side, whom he forced to lie and even falsify the rules in the book.

light won against the so called "best detective in the world" with his powers of deceptions and mind games.
L didn't lose to Light, he lost to magic. Plain and simple. He knew Light was Kira and he knew Light would kill him. There was just nothing he could do against magic. He already prolonged his death as long as possible by outsmarting Light from the very beginning. L was on the offensive, Light was on the defensive. He only won due to the fact that he had a major head start over L.
