When did Naruto learn to do a Rasengan without a clone or nine tails chakra mode the last manga chapter at the end he did it like J-dog and minato? Or has he done it before and I just forgot?

Naruto slammed the Asura Path in the Pain Arc without a clone and performed an Rasenrengan against the Animal Path shortly after without a clone in Gamabunta's mouth.

Naruto also used a one handed Rasengan without the need of a clone during his showdown with Kurama in the Manga and Anime.

And further implies this when all of them try to rush down Kurama and then all the clones activate Sage Mode to empower the Rasengan to Chou-Oodama Rasentarengan.

Naruto also managed to do this with the help of additional chakra to maintain his clone body during his fight against the Edo-Tensei'd Madara when Madara used Mokuton: Jikai Kotan. Naruto replied back using one handed Oodama Rasengans to stop the forest emergence.

Filler : Naruto also does this in the Kishi-written story Road to Ninja doing a homage to Minato by doing the one handed Rasengan to the Tobi possessed Menma.

Filler : In the filler Chikara Arc, Naruto uses the incomplete KCM chakra to form an Tailed-Beast Rasengan with one hand, although he used yin-yang chakra for that, which is a difficult feat to perform, even when Naruto mastered KCM during the war as shown when Naruto tried to perform the Tailed-Beast Rasengan against the Third Raikage.

This has also been implied by Kurama when Naruto managed to shift the chakra patterns to match the entire Shinobi Alliance as well and managed to do Twin Fully-Sized Rasenshurikens during the War Arc/Ten-Tails Arc.

Edit:
============================
A further emphasis of Naruto able to do the one handed rasengan is the Ultimate Ninja Storm series.

In one scenario, he kicks the enemy into two naruto clones charging up a rasengan, with the real Naruto making a Rasengan by himself and both hit their enemy.

Another instance is similar to the Asura Path where he ends it with him charging a Rasengan and slamming it down on their opponent.

Another instance again (Non Sage Mode) is Naruto's regular combo (Last Obtainable Naruto) where he has himself and two clones barrage their enemies with the regular rasengan. Implying that they all made it on their own.

And yet another one is when Naruto fights Tobi in UNJS3 where him and his clone rush down Tobi with several hundred Rasengan in the game's climax.

You're right, it's like a person who used to use a Tricycle has moved onto a Bicycle.

Naruto is still able to move back to the Tricycle for whatever reason though. Though this may be a rare case as the Naruto fighting the Third Raikage that Yo Pappy mentioned earlier was just a clone that just exhausted his chakra. So it is likely that he made another a clone to help due to the fact that we're talking about a person with the Fourth Raikage's speed and fighting prowess. Naruto's clone most likely needed help in that regard.

I think he uses the clones in the later series when he needs the help or is in a tight situation. Cases are during his fight with Edo Madara where after the fight with the Third Raikage, the Naruto clone used another clone to form an Chou-Oodama Rasengan.

It's safe to assume that Naruto can do Regular/Oodama Rasengans without any hiccups: Asura Path being crushed, Animal Path got hit by a Rasenrengan (both hands had a regular rasengan), and during Edo Madara's Forest Emergence, the Naruto clone summoned several dozen clones that all generated their own Oodama Rasengan with one hand; albeit at the cost of all his chakra and felt like his clone body was about to fade away.).

I don't understand why people are saying "where did he learn". He learned how to do it with one hand originally from Jiraya, he just wasn't good at doing two things at once at the time. So he always had the knowledge, just not the skill.

Naruto probably uses clones because thats what he is used to doing. As is skill level increased throughout the years (and since he tried to while training with kakashi) it would make sense that he would have the chakra control to do it.

Also this

Double one handed Rasenshuriken.

as people already said, he always knew how to do it with one hand, but didnt have the chakra control. the last time he did it against the old edo raikage he needed a clone, but since then, he became friends with kurama and entered bijuu mode, and kurama said naruto has amazing chakra control now since he gave the entire alliance his chakra and had to control/convert/form his chakra to match eacb different persons own chakra pattern. im guessing since naruto did that, his chakra control is a lot better now, and because of that he can do rasengan with one hand...at least in sage mode.

either that, or kishi just didnt bother showing narutos clones on screen, and he still did use clones to make the rasengan. not everything is always shown on screen. i like the first explanation though, since naruto does have amazing chakra control now ever since he gave the entire alliance chakra.
