Genjutsu should NOT be one of the basic three ninja jutsu types

Literally every single character in the manga that's ever held a kunai uses some kind of taijutsu.
Ninjutsu, same story, almost every single character that is a ninja has some kind of ninjutsu technique.

However! Genjutsu despite being one of the three basic forms of jutsu, is used by almost NO ONE.

Has a single genjutsu technique been used against madara or obito when the army was attacking them? No, despite it being one of the three basic types of genjutsu, not a single attempt to use it was made.

Not true, kabutos genjutsu successfully trapped both itachi and sasuke, and this would have ended them if they had not both had eye genjutsu of their own.

There's no reason to consider genjutsu one of the three basic ninja jutsu types when so few people can do it. It should be a special classification. I think the second mizukage reclassified genjutsu as under yin-release, which makes more sense to me then 'one of the three basic types' of jutsu. It's not a basic type when only a few notable users can actually do it.

It is not used a lot. It's used almost never.

Uchihas are one of the few clans that make use of it and they typically do so through KKG. Itachi was a genjutsu prodigy.

this is true, I still don't think genjutsu should be classified as one of the three basic jutsu though. I mean naruto trained for three years to not get trapped in itachis genjutsu and he still fell for it.

Are you sure you understand the topic? I'm not saying genjutsu is weak. I'm saying it's too hard to learn to be considered a basic ninja technique. Everyone you have listed is a prodigy, except for kurenai. Very very few ninjas have any sort of genjutsu in their arsenal whereas every ninja has some form of taijutsu and ninjutsu.
